Notice of the Ministry of Transport on Carrying Out 2026 China Maritime Day Activities
To all member units of the China Maritime Day Organizing Committee; transport departments (commissions) of all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government; all affiliated entities of the Ministry of Transport; and all internal departments of the Ministry:
July 11, 2026 marks the 22nd China Maritime Day, which is also the observance day of World Maritime Day in China. As the starting year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, 2026 bears important significance for hosting China Maritime Day activities. Relevant arrangements for the 2026 China Maritime Day activities are hereby notified as follows.

I. General Requirements
Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we will thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructive spirit that "an economic powerhouse must be a maritime and shipping powerhouse". Adhering to the principles of "appropriate scale, frugality, rich content and practical results", we will showcase new progress and new achievements of the maritime industry at the initial stage of the 15th Five-Year Plan, pool industrial strength, disseminate maritime culture, raise public maritime awareness, and provide solid support for accelerating the development of a transportation power and a maritime power.

III. Activity Arrangements
The 2026 China Maritime Day activities consist of three categories: main event, industry-specific activities and local featured activities, which will be launched in a coordinated manner around July 11. The list of proposed activities of local authorities and relevant departments is attached. All regions and departments may appropriately extend the activity duration in light of actual conditions.
(1) Main Event
On July 11, the Ministry of Transport will hold the main China Maritime Day event in Beijing, with online live viewing available for relevant institutions outside Beijing. Major achievements in shipping, ports, shipbuilding and other maritime fields will be released centrally, fully demonstrating new progress in the high-quality development of China's maritime industry.
(2) Industry-Specific Activities
On July 11, the 2026 China Maritime Day Announcement will be released, and vessels nationwide will hoist full flags and sound whistles in unison. Around July 11, entities under the Ministry of Transport will carry out business exchanges, skill competitions, popular science education and publicity activities in light of local conditions. The official posters and logo of 2026 China Maritime Day will be released on the official website of the Ministry of Transport.
(3) Local Featured Activities
In the week surrounding July 11, China Institute of Navigation (CIN), China Seafarers' Construction Trade Union, Yangzhou Municipal People's Government and other institutions will host academic exchanges, popular science education and public experience activities in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. The Shanghai Municipal Transport Commission will organize themed events, vessel open days and free admission to maritime venues in Shanghai. Local authorities will launch Maritime Day-themed voyages on tourist water passenger routes based on local conditions.
Member units of the China Maritime Day Organizing Committee are encouraged to organize diversified public welfare activities centering on the official theme in accordance with industrial and institutional realities. Such activities aim to expand event coverage and influence, enhance maritime practitioners' sense of mission, honor and fulfillment, arouse teenagers' enthusiasm for maritime causes, and foster and improve public maritime awareness across the country.
IV. Relevant Requirements
(1) Strengthen Organization and Coordination
All relevant units shall strengthen organizational leadership and overall coordination, closely follow the event theme, refine implementation plans for event organization, and ensure smooth delivery of activities with sizable impact.
（(2) Strictly Observe Discipline and Rules
All relevant units shall earnestly implement the spirit of the Central‑Eight‑Point Regulation and its implementing rules, and firmly follow the CPC Central Committee's requirements on regulating festivals, exhibitions and forums, and reducing the burden on primary‑level authorities by combating formalism. Activities shall be organized in a frugal, standardized and well‑ordered manner. Without approval, no embedded festivals, exhibitions, forums, evaluation‑and‑recognition campaigns or demonstration‑creation activities shall be held. Unauthorized naming and licensing are prohibited. Arbitrary release of rankings targeting local governments and seeking improper interests via such rankings are also forbidden. Activities subject to approval requirements can only be held upon completion of prescribed approval procedures.
(3) Firmly Safeguard the Bottom Line of Safety
Adhering to the principle of "the organizer bears full responsibility", sponsoring units shall fulfill their primary responsibilities, reinforce safety safeguards, and ensure all activities are conducted safely and in good order. All sponsors and organizers shall strictly implement the ideological work responsibility system, uphold correct orientation and guarantee ideological security.
(4) Step Up Publicity and News Coverage
All relevant units shall mobilize resources within their own systems and media of all types at all levels, adopt flexible online‑offline integrated approaches for converged‑media reporting on maritime‑related themes and China Maritime Day, so as to foster a sound atmosphere for accelerating the building of a transportation power and a maritime power. Where conditions permit on July 11, major port passenger terminals, water‑borne tourist passenger routes and passenger vessels in key waters shall display the China Maritime Day theme and promotional posters via electronic screens, TV sets and other means.
(5) Complete Activity Summaries
All units shall sum up experience, practices and innovative models from China Maritime Day activities, sort out activity progress, highlights and work proposals. Submit activity summaries together with relevant images, videos and links to media coverage to the Office of China Maritime Day Organizing Committee (Water Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Transport) before July 22.
