Notice on Standardizing and Removing  "National Base of Maritime Science Popularization Education" Plaques

To all relevant units:

In order to strictly implement the requirements of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) in the Notice on Further Improving the Standardization and Removal of Plaques and Nameplates Awarded or Approved by National Societies", we hereby issue the following notice regarding the comprehensive clean-up and standardization of plaque-awarding activities and the display of such plaques:

I. Scope of Clean-up

All "National Base of Maritime Science Popularization Education" plaques awarded by CIN.

II. Clean-up Measures

1.  Effective immediately, the application process for  "National Base of Maritime Science Popularization Education" designation is suspended. No further evaluation, approval, or plaque-awarding activities will be conducted.

2.  For all currently designated bases:

Those whose terms expire in 2026 must have their plaques removed immediately.

Those whose terms have not yet expired may continue to display the plaques until their expiration date, at which point they must be removed and must not continue to be displayed.

3.  In accordance with CAST's requirements for science popularization work, China Institute of Navigation(CIN) will continue to support various maritime science popularization venues and experts in their work. The "Administrative Measures for National Base of Maritime Science Popularization Education by CIN", issued in 2021, is hereby repealed as of the date of this notice.

III. Implementation Requirements

All relevant units are requested to pay close attention to this matter, strengthen accountability, and promptly conduct self-inspections of plaque validity. Any plaques that have expired must be removed and cleaned up by May 30, 2026. Entities are required to report the results of their implementation to the CIN Secretariat without delay.
