Notice of CIN on Organizing the National Science Popularization Day 2024 activities

To the Working Committee for Maritime Science Popularization of CIN, all maritime science popularization education bases, special committees, unit members of CIN and local institute of navigation:
To carry forward the spirits of science and scientists, spread scientific ideas, showcase the charm of science and technology, stimulate innovation and confidence, cultivate innovation culture, consolidate the mass foundation of scientific and technological innovation and make contributions to building a leading power of science and technology. Therefore, the institute, in accordance with the requirements of the notice of CIN on organizing the National Science Popularization Day 2024 activities ([2024] No. 28 of the Association for Science and Technology) (see Attachment 1 for more details) jointly issued by 21 ministries and commissions, including the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Office of Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, organizes all member units of CIN, nautical science education bases, professional committees and local nautical societies to actively carry out the activities of the National Science Popularization Day 2023, and the specific matters are as follows:
I. Activity theme
Improving the scientific literacy of the mass and working together to build a leading power of science and technology
Ⅱ.Activity time
The activity will be carried out all around the country from September 15th to 25th 2024, and the theme publicity campaigns are available throughout the year.
Ⅲ. Important activity events
During the National Science Popularization Day’s activities, we will organize and mobilize all forces, rely on the platforms and resources of the bases and relevant units, focus on the theme “Improving the scientific literacy and working together to build a leading power in science and technology” and orderly conduct a series of science popularization activities in government agencies, universities, enterprises, and communities in a multi-level, multi-dimensional, and diverse manner with a focus on the following aspects:
(1) Carry out science popularization activities themed “Frontier Talks in science popularization reports”. We will enter government agencies, universities, and enterprises to conduct high-end offline science popularization reports for leaders, civilians, university students and young science and technology workers and explore the cutting-edge mysteries of navigation (see Attachment 2 for details).
(2) Carry out “Youth Maritime Science and Technology Education” activities. Jointly with relevant universities and colleges, we will actively mobilize various educational and scientific research units and relevant science and technology workers to conduct youth maritime science and technology education activities through forms such as “Hand in Hand Science Popularization Reports,” inspiring young people’s interest in science and cultivating innovative spirit and practical abilities.
(3) Carry out the “Maritime Experts and Science Popularization Ambassadors Visit Schools” activity. Through a combination of online and offline channels, we will invite experts in maritime science and culture to hold lectures and discussions on maritime science popularization in primary schools, secondary schools and higher education institutions.
(4) Organize a Collection of Navigation Science Popularization Resources. Focus on the cutting-edge technology in the field of navigation, creating and collecting high-quality, original, scientific, and popular science short videos and exhibition panels in the field of navigation.
(5) Carry Out “Linked Science Popularization Fronts” Activities. In collaboration with the member units of CIN, navigation science popularization education bases, special committees, and local institute of navigation, we will open science and technology museums and mobile science museums for free, conduct study tours, science education, and science popularization reports to enhance the scientific interest of young people and strengthen the mass foundation for scientific and technological innovation.
(6) Organize Maritime Science Popularization Summer Camps or Study Tours. Each base and local navigation institute can give full play to their respective advantages, actively organize local primary and middle school students to carry out various and informative navigation science popularization summer camps or study tours by utilizing their rich resources.
(7) To carry out various forms of navigation science exhibition and display activities. To provide the public with a platform to close contact with the charm of maritime science and technology and the mysteries of the ocean. Through colorful display content and interactive experience, we will stimulate the public's attention and love for the navigation industry.
Ⅳ. Relevant requirements
(1) Organizational requirements
1. Each Marine science popularization education base and each professional committee shall, during the National Science Popularization Day, hold at least one/one science popularization activity and fill in the activity information on the National Science Popularization Day website as required. This work will be included in the annual assessment indicators of the bases and specialized committees;
2. Members of the Maritime Science Popularization Work Committee shall actively play their own roles, participate in the planning and organization of implementation, and jointly promote the in-depth development of maritime science popularization work. The ambassadors should actively participate in the science popularization activities, use their influence and professional knowledge, popularize the knowledge of navigation science to the public, and stimulate the interest and enthusiasm for the cause of navigation.
3. All activity organizing units will publish their activities through We-media (own websites, public accounts, Weibo and other platforms). At the same time, the relevant report links and videos will be forwarded to the society, and the society will collect and arrange centralized publicity;
4. Navigation science popularization short videos and science popularization exhibition boards are required to be well-made, easy to understand, original, and have a demonstration and guiding role. Works can be uploaded or sent to email: hhkp@cinnet.cn;
(2) Activity requirements
1. All relevant units should attach great importance to strengthening organizational leadership and coordination;
2. Pay attention to the role of scientific and technological workers and marine science popularization ambassadors, so as to provide good service guarantee for the science popularization work;
3. Coordinate the publicity channels and carry out all-round and multi-angle publicity and promotion through the combination of online and offline, traditional media and new media;
4. Closely focus on the theme of Science Popularization Day activities, focus on the needs and expectations of the public, promote Science Popularization Day activities to serve the people, and achieve tangible results.
Ⅴ. Fill in the information
1. Please send the activity schedule (see Attachment 3) to the email address: hhkp@cinnet.cn before August 31, 2024. Register and log on to the website of National Science Popularization Day (www.kepuri.cn) from August 21st to September 30th, and fill in the information and summary materials of National Science Popularization Day activities as required (Note: When filling in online, choose "National Association - China Institute of Navigation" as the reference institution);
2. The Institute will complete the recommendation of excellent activities and report it to China Association for Science and Technology before October 10. According to the indicators of organizational mobilization, quantity and scale, brand publicity, science and technology volunteer, joint action, and network activity topic coordination, the organizers of the China Association for Science and Technology will praise and issue honorary certificates to the units with orderly organization and effective service to the grassroots, and the activities with great influence, attention and good reflection.
