The National Navigation Science Popularization Knowledge Contest 2023 was held at the Cangzhou International Convention Center on the morning of July 14. This competition is organized by the China Institute of Navigation and the China Seamen Construction Union, and co-organized by the Hebei Navigation Association. This offline activity could be watched through live streaming to promote maritime culture in multiple aspects.
There were 16 teams participating in the competition, including Tianjin Maritime College, Xingang Maritime Bureau, Zhejiang Seaport Investment and Operation Group Co., Ltd., Hebei Jiaotong Vocational and Technical College, and Fujian Maritime Bureau.
The National Navigation Science Popularization Contest has been successfully held for 6 times since 2015. The contest is intended to further stimulate the interest and enthusiasm of young people in learning navigation and ocean knowledge, constantly improve young people’s navigation and marine awareness, promote the inheritance of navigation culture and the promotion of navigation spirit in the new era, and attract more young people to aspire to join the construction of China's maritime power, contributing to the steady development of China's economic construction and building China into a world maritime and transportation power.

At the event site, we first introduced each participating representative team, tested the answering machine, announced the competition rules, and then the competition officially began. The main form of the competition is on-site Q&A, including required questions and questions to be answered quickly. After multiple rounds of competition, the representative team of Jiangsu Maritime Institute won the first prize, Hebei Provincial Institute of Navigation and Jiangsu Shipping College won the second prize, and COSCO Shipping Special Transportation Co., Ltd., Merchant Marine Academy of Tianjin University of Technology, and Ningbo University won the third prize. After the competition, the contestants expressed that they had learned a lot. As young people, they should understand navigation, love navigation, and devote themselves to navigation, so that the red genes of Chinese navigation can be passed down and the spirit of navigation in the new era can be inherited.
