On the afternoon of June 28, the secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology(CAST) Zhang Guihua, and party members went to the China Institute of Navigation for research and discussion. The President of the Institute He Jianzhong presided over the symposium. Executive vice president Zhang Baochen introduced the basic situation of the Institute’s innovative development in recent years, and reported the work focusing on party building, academic exchanges, scientific and technological services and member services, the preparation of China Maritime Week and the difficulties encountered in the development of the Institute.
He Jianzhong welcomed the leaders of the CAST for research and guidance. He pointed out that the Institute has made remarkable achievements in party building, academic exchange, science and technology services, think tank construction, scientific popularization, and self-building, and has gradually formed a development pattern of promoting development with party building and strengthening party building with development under the leadership of the CAST in the past years. He Jianzhong said that the Institute had actively sought the support of the Ministry of Transport and the CAST to promote the collective arrangement of a series of activities such as China Maritime Forum, the China Maritime Academic Annual Conference, the Nautical Science and Technology Exposition, the National Maritime Science Popularization Week during one week(July 10-16), expanding the scale of China's national level nautical activities from “day” to “week” and enhancing the authority, branding and influence of the series of events. 2023 National Maritime Science Popularization Week will be held in Cangzhou, Hebei Province on July 11, and we hope the leaders of CAST will attend to guide us at that time.
In the concluding speech, Zhang Guihua pointed out that the China Institute of Navigation has taken the initiative to integrate its work into the overall situation of the industry and national development, and effectively implemented the leadership of the Party into all aspects of the work of the Institute. In recent years, the Institute has made outstanding achievements and played an important role in strengthening the leadership of the Party, innovating the construction of academic platforms, providing in-depth services to members, recommending nautical talents, improving the capacity of scientific and technological services, popularizing science and promoting the spirit of navigation in the new era. The Institute’s firm implementation of the leadership of party building and its attitudes and solid practice deserves in-depth discussion and study. It is desirable for the CAST and the Institute to deepen their exchanges and explorations in party construction and the leadership of party building, and strive to build a pilot unit for party building, which could be regarded as a guiding and replicable model.
Zhang Guihua said that the China Association for Science and Technology will always support the work of the Institute and seriously study the relevant suggestions proposed by the Institute.
