​The Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration Has Opened 24 Water Traffic Emergency Shelters in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area


A few days ago, the Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration released the news that 24 water traffic emergency shelters in the Three Gorges Reservoir area were completed and put into use for berthing or beaching area when emergency self-rescue of ships were in distress in the Three Gorges Reservoir area and the emergency rescue was adopted by the maritime sector. The shelters were designed not only to further enhance the capacity to avoid water traffic emergency in the Three Gorges reservoir area, but also to provide a "safety insurance” for navigable ships in the Three Gorges reservoir area.


It is understood that the water traffic emergency shelters in the Three Gorges reservoir area are important emergency shelter resources invested and constructed by the state. They are important facilities designated for berthing or beaching for emergency self-rescue of ships in distress or emergency rescue by the maritime sector. The captain, pilot and safety management personnel of relevant vessels shall be familiar with the location, purpose and usage of each emergency berthing area and emergency beach area.


In addition, the Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration will also do a good job in training maritime law enforcement officers and crew, and incorporate relevant content into the captain’s actual practice examination of the Three Gorges reservoir area. The Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration will strengthen the daily inspection of the emergency shelters, the daily maintenance of emergency safety facilities, and check whether the facility functions well, whether the scope of the water is encroached upon, and whether the logo is obscured. When handling the approval of relevant water conservancy projects, the Yangtze River Maritime Safety Administration will ensure whether the projects affect the function of the emergency shelter area should be put into the review and approval of the assessment.
