On April 26th, the Digital Laboratory of Integrated Transportation Planning was inaugurated in Beijing, and the first academic committee meeting was held. The laboratory was jointly established by the Transport Planning and Research Institute Ministry of Transport (refer to as the TPRI), Southeast University, China Railway Economic Planning and Research Institute Co., Ltd., China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology, State Post Bureau Safety Supervision Center, Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center Co., Ltd., and China Unicom Wisdom Footprint Data Technology Co., Ltd.
Focusing on the research and application of digital technology, the laboratory will promote the innovation of comprehensive transport planning, theory, and technology, for the improvement of digitalization, visualization, and technical level of transport planning in China. Besides, based on the theory and technology in the new era, the laboratory will develop the application tools of transport planning simulation and visualization. It means that high-level personnel in the field of comprehensive transportation planning will be trained to provide strong support for accelerating the building of a powerful country in transportation.
JinJingdong, the vice president of TPRI, was appointed as the director of the laboratory. In the meantime, Yan Xinping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Wei, director of the academic department of Southeast University, Zhou Zhengyu, director of the Population, Resources, Environment and Construction Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, and other 10 experts from universities and scientific research institutes are invited to the academic committee. During the meeting, members of the academic committee, representatives of the competent units and member units of the laboratory exchanged the opinions on the construction and development of the laboratory.
Yang Wenyin, dean of TPRI, said that TPRI attaches great importance to the construction and development of the laboratory, and has listed it as one of the major tasks in the 14th Five Year Plan period. TPRI will provide funds, talents, scientific and technological resources support and a suitable environment for the development of the laboratory.
