Zhang Baochen, Executive Vice President, Attended the First Meeting of Executive Committee of IAIN in 2021

On the afternoon of May 13, 2021, International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN) held the first meeting of Executive Committee in 2021 online. Jonh Pottle, president of IAIN, presided over the meeting. Yasuo Arai, former president of Japan Institute of Navigation, Hesham Helal, vice president of Arab Institute of Navigation, Krzysztof Czaplewski, president of Poland Institute of Navigation, JoongWoo Lee, president of Korea Institute of Navigation and Harbour,  Simon Gaskin, secretary general of Royal Institute of Navigation, and Tom William, chief financial officer, attended the meeting. In view of the resignation of Huang Youfang, senior vice president of IAIN, Zhang Baochen, executive vice president, attended the meeting on behalf of China Institute of Navigation (CIN).

The meeting discussed and reviewed the amendments to the constitution of IAIN, the implementation steps of the five-year development plan, the financial report and annual budget for 2020, the change plan of Executive Committee from 2021 to 2024, the annual report of representatives to international organizations, the selection results of John Harrison Award, Nico Award and Honorary Members of IAIN in 2021, the preparatory progress of the 2024 World Congress, the host units of the 2027 World Congress and other issues, and determined the relevant matters. In view of the unclear situation of COVID-19 this year and next year, according to the proposal of Royal Institute of navigation, the meeting decided to postpone the next session of IAIN’s Executive Committee to 2024 in China. At the same time, it was decided to hold the Member Assembly of IAIN online in November 9th this year.

At the meeting, the members of Executive Members expressed their gratitude to Huang Youfang, former president of CIN, for his contribution to IAIN. Professor Huang Youfang, as chairman of the 2021 Award Selection Committee of IAIN, organized experts from Egypt, Britain, the United States, the Netherlands, Japan, Italy and other countries to conduct the selection of John Harrison Award, Nico Award and honorary members of IAIN. On behalf of professor Huang, Zhang Baochen made a report on behalf of the award selection committee at the meeting.
