On the occasion of the 16th World Seafarers' Day, on behalf of China Institute of Navigation, I would like to extend my sincerest festive greetings and highest respect to all seafarers fighting on the front line of the shipping industry, and express my heartfelt thanks to your families for your silent dedication and support.
The theme of this year's World Seafarers'Day is "Sustaining Global Trade, Braving Maritime Risks". It profoundly interprets the dual responsibilities of seafarers: you serve as an indispensable pillar of the global supply chain, and uphold professional dignity and mission amid maritime wind, waves and risks. For a long time, upholding the spirit of "patriotism, enterprise, dedication and commitment", seafarers have braved rough seas and ventured into the deep ocean. You have made indelible contributions to stabilizing global supply chains, prospering international trade and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. You are worthy of the titles of "maritime craftsmen" and "blue ambassadors".
The global shipping industry is currently undergoing profound transformation. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set its biennial theme for 2026–2027 as "From Policy to Practice: Advancing Maritime Excellence". China is accelerating its transformation from a major shipping country to a powerful shipping country, with safety, intelligence and green development serving as new benchmarks for industrial progress. China Institute of Navigation (CIN) is committed to advancing maritime scientific and technological progress, protecting seafarers' legitimate rights and interests, and providing solid technical support and broader growth platforms for the professional development of all seafarers.
Seafarers are pioneers in building China into a maritime power and a transportation power. I sincerely wish all seafarers smooth sailing, a happy holiday, good health and family happiness.
