On July 10, 2026, the Forum on New Energy and Electrification Technology for Ship was successfully held at the Yangzhou Conference Center in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province. The symposium was hosted by the China Institute of Navigation, co-organized by Jiangsu Daqo KFINE Electric Co., Ltd., the National Key Laboratory of Waterborne Transportation Control, and Hubei Donghu Laboratory, with support from Tongda Electromagnetic Energy Co., Ltd., Hefei Zhaoyang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., and the Intelligent New Energy Ship Technology Innovation Industry Alliance. Under the theme “Green Power, Smart Electric Drive,” the forum brought together industry expertise to explore new pathways for green shipping development.
Professor Yan Xinping, President of the China Institute of Navigation and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Ge Fei, Vice Chairman of Daqo Group, delivered opening addresses. President Yan Xinping noted in his speech that the symposium focuses on the core track of green and intelligent transformation in shipping, and serves as a key professional event in implementing the overall theme of the 2026 China Navigation Day – “Digital & Intelligent Empowerment, Navigating the Future.” He emphasized that the ship electrical system is the “heart and nervous system” of new energy vessels, and that the industry is now transitioning from pilot projects to a critical phase of large-scale deployment. There is an urgent need for collaborative efforts among government, industry, academia, research, and alliances to accelerate technology translation and standard refinement, thereby building a solid foundation for the comprehensive green upgrade of inland waterway shipping. Vice Chairman Ge Fei introduced Daqo Group’s R&D efforts and core technologies in the marine electrical sector, expressing the Group’s hope to use this symposium as a bridge to deepen cooperation with all parties and contribute to the greener, smarter, and safer evolution of shipping.
The academic sessions were moderated respectively by Professor Wu Bing, Director of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Research Center at Wuhan University of Technology, and Professor Ouyang Wu, Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory of Waterborne Transportation Control (Wuhan). Over 200 experts, scholars, and industry representatives from the China Institute of Navigation, higher education institutions, research institutes, and key players along the ship industry chain came together to engage in in-depth discussions on core technology breakthroughs and industrial applications for green and intelligent ships.
Distinguished speakers delivered keynote presentations on ship new energy and electrical technologies, including: Director Li Kun of the Ship Center at the Waterborne Transport Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport; Associate Researcher Luan Yongli of the Intelligent Ship Division at Shanghai Ship & Shipping Research Institute; Professor Huang Lianzhong from Dalian Maritime University; Professor Ouyang Wu from Wuhan University of Technology; Professor Ma Fan from Hubei Donghu Laboratory; Deputy Director Qian Zhengyan from Shanghai CRRC Hange Marine & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd.; Associate Researcher Liu Chengjiang from Hubei Donghu Laboratory; Deputy General Manager Zhu Zhongjian from Jiangsu Daqo KFINE Electric Co., Ltd.; Chief Engineer Zhou Xiwen from Hefei Zhaoyang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.; and Chief Engineer Chen Yuanchu from Tongda Electromagnetic Energy Co., Ltd.
Closely aligned with China’s “dual carbon” strategy and the goal of building a leading maritime nation, the symposium focused on core technology breakthroughs and industrial applications for green and intelligent ships. It established a high-level platform for industry–academia–research–application exchange, effectively promoting technological progress and collaborative innovation across the new energy ship industry chain. The event also enriched the professional connotation of the 2026 China Maritime Day series of activities.
