Yang Kunde, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Visited China Institute of Navigation
Yang Kunde, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as professor of Northwestern Polytechnical University, visited China Institute of Navigation on November 25th. He engaged in discussions with representatives of the institute on issues such as scientific and technological cooperation in the field of navigation, deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and talent cultivation in the industry. Secretary-General Liu Shun, Deputy Secretary-General Liu Ying, and relevant department heads of the institute attended the meeting.
Secretary-General Liu Shun first systematically introduced the progress and achievements of the institute in areas such as scientific and technological services, academic exchanges, think tank construction, and journal publication. He particularly highlighted the significant breakthroughs made by the institute in the past two years in areas such as scientific and technological awards, achievements’ evaluation, and talent recommendation. Academician Yang Kunde drawing on his research experience in marine acoustic information perception, underwater communication networking, and marine new energy development, proposed specific suggestions and opinions on strengthening academic exchanges and cooperation, called to jointly build research platforms, cultivate talents, and develope journals between the institute and Northwestern Polytechnical University in response to the core challenges currently faced by the navigation field, such as the upgrade of intelligent navigation, breakthroughs in deep-sea exploration, and the transition to green and low-carbon. He hoped that China Institute of Navigation, as a key bridge connecting the scientific research community and the industrial application sector, would continue to play a core service role in identifying application targets for scientific research, accelerating the transformation of scientific research achievements, and jointly solving key scientific and technological problems in the navigation field, providing a strong guarantee for scientific and technological innovation.
Academician Yang Kunde was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2025 with the recommendation of China Institute of Navigation. His successful election not only represents a high recognition of his research capabilities but also marks an important practice of the institute's improvement of its high-level talent recommendation system, demonstrating the professionalism and authority of the institute's talent recommendation mechanism and setting a benchmark for scientific researchers in the national navigation field. Through integrating core businesses such as "science and technology award selection, national award recommendation, and think tank special research", the institute has established a full-chain service model of "achievement evaluation - science and technology awards - talent recommendation", providing systematic support for the growth of talents in the navigation field. In the future, the institute will further optimize the recommendation process, broaden channels for talent discovery, and promote the emergence of more outstanding scientific and technological talents, injecting solid intellectual impetus into the construction of a transportation power.
