The 2025 Academic Exchange Meeting on High-Quality Development of Inland Shipping by China Institute of Navigation's Special Committee was Held in Nanjing

The 2025 Academic Exchange Meeting on High-Quality Development of Inland Shipping, organized by the Special Committee on High-Quality Development of Inland Shipping under China Institute of Navigation, was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu ProvinceOn November 15. Over a hundred representatives from government regulatory authorities, research institutions, universities, shipping companies, port groups, shipbuilding and repair enterprises, and new energy companies attended this academic gathering, including Li Shixin, Executive Vice President of China Institute of Navigation; Miao Changwen, as well as Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Southeast University; Miao Changwen, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration;. The whole meeting was presided over by Wei Zhijie, Executive Deputy Director of the Special Committee on High-Quality Development of Inland Shipping under China Institute of Navigation.

Li Shixin, Executive Vice President of China Institute of Navigation, extended congratulations on the successful convening of the conference on behalf of the institute. He expressed gratitude to experts, scholars, and industry colleagues who have long cared for and supported the development of the shipping industry, and shared his best wishes for the meeting.

 Miao Changwen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Southeast University, delivered a lecture entitled "Research on Cement-Based Bionic Supermaterials," introducing his team's globally pioneering "bionic self-power generation-energy storage concrete" technology. Using cement as a carrier, this technology opens up a new energy pathway, directly addressing the high energy consumption pain points in the construction industry and holding the potential to reshape the future landscape of buildings and energy.

Miao Changwen, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration, stated that Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration,as the participant, promoter, and service provider in the high-quality development of inland shipping, will fully advance the construction of "smart maritime affairs," fully support the promotion and application of new and clean energy in inland vessels, fully improve service support mechanisms, and fully promote the establishment of cross-departmental and cross-regional collaborative working mechanisms.

The academic exchange meeting was featured by rich content and cutting-edge topics, with 17 experts and scholars delivering splendid speeches and engaging in exchanges centered around the theme "Scientific and Technological Innovation Empowers 'Water Transport in Jiangsu,' and New Energy Drives Waterborne Development." And severak experts and scholars delivered splendid speeches and shared their latest research findings and practical experiences around the conference theme, including Professor Liu Zhengjiang from Dalian Maritime University, Vice President Yan Wei from Shanghai Maritime University, Professor Wu Weiguo from Wuhan University of Technology, and Ding Junhua, former Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transport, as well as Chen Chao, Vice President of the Water Transport Research Institute under the Ministry of Transport, and Huang Yanpin, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration. 

The success of this academic exchange meeting not only established a high-level dialogue platform for experts and scholars in the shipping field but also injected new impetus into promoting the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with shipping practices through ideological collisions and academic discussions.
