The container ship “Istanbul Bridge” completed loading at Berth 7 of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port’s Beilun No.1 Container Terminal on September 22 and set sail in the early hours of September 23. Its departure marks the official opening of the world’s first China-Europe Arctic Container Express Route. The ship will travel via the Arctic Route to Felixstowe, UK.

This groundbreaking route utilizes the Northern Sea Route (NSR), with a direct transit time of only 18 days, slashing the traditional transit time by 22 days. Additionally, it cuts carbon emissions by approximately 50 percent per trip.

Specifically designed for cross-border e-commerce and high-value goods, this service represents a major achievement in advancing the “Polar Silk Road” initiative. It will offer a faster and greener international logistics option for China’s high-end manufacturing, e-commerce, and new energy industries.

Its first launch marks Ningbo-Zhoushan Port’s first-ever Arctic service, completing the “final piece” of its global network puzzle.
