Notice on the Application for the China Institute of Navigation- Chang Yung-fa Foundation Scholarship for the 2023-2024 Academic Year
To all Related Institutions:
To promote the development of shipping, cultivate nautical talents, and encourage students from nautical institutions to study diligently and apply their knowledge in practice, the China Institute of Navigation, in collaboration with Mr. Chang Yung-fa, a patriotic industrialist from the Taiwan region, and his foundation, have jointly established the "China Institute of Navigation- Chang Yung-fa Foundation Scholarship" (hereinafter referred to as "the Scholarship") to assist outstanding students from nautical institutions who excel in both academics and character but face financial difficulties in completing their studies.The relevant requirements forthe 2023-2024 academic year scholarship application are hereby notified as follows:
- Application Deadline
The deadline for applying for the 2023-2024 China Institute of Navigation - Chang Yung-Fa Foundation Scholarship is September 30th. Late submissions will be considered as a waiver. All applicant institutions are required to carefully prepare the application materials and schedules.
- Application Materials
- The personal application letter from the student must be written and signed by the students themselves. The content should include two parts:
- Specific details of the student's financial difficulties at home with convincing evidence.
- An explanation of the student's love for the maritime industry and determination to work on ships, based on the understanding of the importance of the maritime industry, the recognition of maritime culture, and the promotion of the spirit of maritime people who are not afraid of difficulties and dangers.
(2) “China Institute of Navigation - Chang Yung-Fa Foundation Scholarship” Application Form (Attachment 1)
(3) The student's English scores for the current academic year or CET-4/CET-6 Certificate.
(4) Proof from the institution that the student's English scores are in the top 30 percent of their major for the same grade (waived if there are no English courses in that academic year)
(5) Proof of financial hardship from the institution for the current academic year
(6) Institution’s mailing address, contact person’s name, phone number, cell phone, and fax number
(7) Student’s personal account information, which must be signed by the student. (account holder's name, bank name, account number, ID number), contact information, etc
The above documents (2) to (5) must be stamped with the seal of the school. All materials should be submitted in both paper and scanned electronic versions.
- Work Requirements
To ensure the smooth implementation of this year's scholarship and the quality of cross-Strait civil cooperation, and to maintain the good reputation of our organization and mainland maritime institutions, the leaders in charge of each unit should clarify the department responsible for the organization and implementation of their school (institution). They should carefully study and master the basic spirit and content of the “China Institute of Navigation - Chang Yung-Fa Foundation Scholarship Management Regulations”, and effectively conduct publicity and mobilization, background surveys, application organization, and review reporting in accordance with the “2023-2024 Academic Year China Institute of Navigation - Chang Yung-Fa Foundation Scholarship Distribution Plan” (Attachement 2), to ensure a smooth application process.
