Notification on the Application and Recommendation for Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors of the China Institute of Navigation in 2024

To all relevant units:
In order to further promote the spirit of scientists, enhance the brand image of "Maritime Science Popularization", encourage more maritime science and technology workers to actively participate in science popularization, and give full play to the exemplary and leading role of well-known experts and scholars in the maritime field, in accordance with the "Management Measures for Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors of the China Institute of Navigation (Trial)" (see Attached file 1, hereinafter referred to as the "Measures"), it is decided to carry out the recommendation and selection of ambassadors. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
I. Scope and Quota of Recommendations
- Scope of Recommendations:
- All unit members, branches, and local maritime institutes of the China Institute of Navigation are eligible to recommend candidates for Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors.
- Individual members of the China Institute of Navigation should be recommended by their affiliated organizations. Retirees and freelancers can be recommended through their local provincial or municipal maritime institutes or by contacting our Secretariat. Those who meet the criteria after verification can be recommended by the Secretariat.
- Recommendation Quota: Each unit can recommend up to 2 candidates.
II. Criteria for Recommended Candidates
(I) The candidates should be the people of firm political stance, possessing both integrity and ability, maintaining academic integrity, and having no illegal or disciplinary record.
(II) The candidates could be experts, scholars, and technology/science popularization workers in the field of maritime affairs, who are willing to serve as a spokesperson for maritime science popularization with personal image and actively participate in various public welfare science popularization activities.
(III) The candidates should be the people with a certain social influence, a good public image, and a strong demonstration and driving effect.
III. Recognition and Appointment Procedures
- Submit the "Recommendation Form for Maritime Science Popularization Ambassador (Application) of China Institute of Navigation" as required in the notice (see Attached file 2).
(II) The proposed list of "Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors" will be determined after the Maritime Science Popularization Work Committee organizing experts to select and review.
(III) The Institute will formally announce the list of ambassadors and issue letters of appointment after review and approval by the Executive Board, and upon the expiration of the public announcement period.
(IV) According to the "Measures," the term of appointment for each Ambassador is five years.
IV. Relevant Requirements
(I) Please carefully evaluate and comprehensively review the proposed candidates in accordance with the criteria for recommending candidates, so as to recommend well-known experts and technology/science popularization workers who can truly play a role, have certain representativeness, and are enthusiastic about maritime science popularization.
(II) According to the work arrangement, it is planned to award certificates to the approved science popularization ambassadors at the "2024 National Maritime Science Popularization Season Launch Ceremony" during this year's Day of navigation.
(III) Please send the electronic version (Word and PDF with official seals) of the relevant recommendation materials (Attached file 2) to the designated email address before May 31st.
