To all relevant entities:
To further promote the spirit of scientists, enhance the brand image of "Navigation Science Popularization," encourage maritime science and technology professionals to actively engage in science popularization, and leverage the exemplary role of renowned experts and scholars in the maritime field, we have decided to launch the recommendation and selection process for Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors. This is in accordance with the Administrative Measures for Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors of the China Institute of Navigation (Trial) (see Attachment 1, hereinafter referred to as the "Measures"). The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
I.Scope and Quota of Recommendation
(1)Scope of Recommendation:
1. All institutional members, branches of the China Institute of Navigation (CIN), and local institutes of navigation may recommend candidates for Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors to the CIN
2. Individual members of the CIN shall be recommended by their respective employers. Retired personnel and freelancers may be recommended through their local provincial or municipal institutes of navigation, or may contact the CIN Secretariat directly; those who meet the criteria after review will be recommended collectively by the Secretariat.
(2)Recommendation Quota: Each unit may recommend a maximum of two candidates.
II. Eligibility Criteria
1. Politically firm, possessing both integrity and professional ability, maintaining a proper style of study, and having no record of violations of laws or discipline.
- Willing to represent the maritime science popularization cause with their personal image and actively participate in various public welfare science popularization activities as maritime experts, scholars, or science and technology/science communication professionals.
- Possessing a certain degree of social influence, a good public image, and a strong exemplary and leading role.
III. Identification and Appointment Procedures
1. Submit the China Institute of Navigation Maritime Science Popularization Ambassador (Application) Recommendation Form (see Attachment 2) in accordance with the notification requirements.
2. The Maritime Science Popularization Committee will organize expert selection and review to determine the proposed list of "Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors."
3. After the list is reviewed and approved by the President's Office and the public notice period expires, the CIN will officially issue a document announcing the list of Ambassadors and awarding letters of appointment.
4. According to the Measures, the term of office for each session of Maritime Science Popularization Ambassadors is five years.
IV. Relevant Requirements
1. All relevant units should carefully evaluate and comprehensively examine the candidates against the eligibility criteria to recommend renowned experts and science professionals who can truly play an active role, possess representativeness, and are passionate about the cause of maritime science popularization.
According to the work schedule, certificates will be awarded to the approved Ambassadors at the "2026 National Maritime Science Popularization Season Launch Ceremony" during this year's Maritime Day period. Please send the Recommendation Form (in both WORD and stamped PDF versions) to the designated email address before May 8.
