Preliminary Notice on the Tentative Arrangements for the 2025 Academic Annual Conference and Extension of the Paper Submission Deadline Maritime Law Professional Committee of the China Institute of Navigation

Dear Members of the Professional Committee, Experts, Scholars and Colleagues in the Maritime Law Field:

The Maritime Law Professional Committee of the China Institute of Navigation (hereinafter referred to as the "Professional Committee") has released the Notice on Calling for Papers for the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of the Maritime Law Professional Committee of the China Institute of Navigation through its official WeChat public account on July 25, 2025. Since the release of the notice, it has received extensive attention and positive responses from colleagues in the theoretical and practical circles of maritime law. The Secretariat has received multiple high-quality academic paper submissions, and we hereby extend our sincere gratitude.

In consideration of the feedback recently received from some experts, scholars and colleagues in the practical field, who hope to have more sufficient time to complete and submit their papers, the Professional Committee has decided to extend the submission deadline for this academic annual conference to encourage the emergence of more outstanding academic achievements. Taking this opportunity, we also wish to inform colleagues in the academic circle of the preliminary arrangements for the annual conference in advance.

I. Basic Information of the 2025 Academic Annual Conference

To facilitate members, experts, scholars and paper authors to plan their schedules in advance, the basic information of the annual conference is announced as follows. The official meeting notice and detailed agenda will be released later.

       Conference Time: November 15, 2025 (Saturday) (Tentative)

       Conference Venue: Shanghai, China

II. Tentative Agenda of the Annual Conference

As the first academic annual conference held since the establishment of the Maritime Law Professional Committee of the China Institute of Navigation on October 19, 2024, this annual conference aims to build consensus, exchange ideas and promote the construction of China's maritime legal system.

       7.Roundtable Discussion 1: Forging Ahead Through Waves: Building a Legalized New Ecosystem of Intelligent Shipping Data

       8.Roundtable Discussion 2: Exploring Consensus: General Principles for the Interpretation of International Shipping Contract Disputes

III. Main Participants

The annual meeting is expected to bring together various stakeholders in the field of maritime law. The main participants will include: leadership representatives from China Institute of Navigation, leadership representatives from the host university, senior honorary experts of the Professional Committee, all members of the Professional Committee, undertakers of the 2025 general research projects, representative authors of papers selected for the annual meeting, specially invited teachers and students participating in the debate competition.

IV. Extension of Paper Submission Deadline

The original submission deadline has now been extended to Saturday, October 25, 2025. Experts and scholars who intend to submit but have not yet finalized their contributions are kindly requested to expedite the preparation of their results and manuscripts, ensuring submission by the new deadline.

      There are no fees for paper submission. The Special Committee will adhere to the principles of fairness, justice, and transparency. All submitted manuscripts will undergo anonymous peer review by senior industry experts. Combined with the Special Committee's selection procedures, the final list of papers accepted for presentation at the annual conference will be determined. For outstanding papers that pass the final selection, authors will be invited to present their work at the conference based on their willingness. These papers are also planned to be recommended for publication in a Supplement of "China Navigation". For particularly outstanding papers, the Special Committee will recommend them for publication in the main edition of "China Navigation" (a Peking University Chinese Core Journal and CSCD-indexed journal). Please note that the topic suitability and quality of articles for "China Navigation" remain subject to the final review by its editorial office. Specific arrangements will be communicated to the authors separately.
