To ensure safe production and service support during the May Day holiday, maintain orderly waterway traffic, and guarantee safe and smooth public travel, Shantou Navigation Aids Office actively joined the joint maritime, land, and air law enforcement operation in Shanwei on April 28.
This operation marked the first “maritime-land-air+smart monitoring” multi-dimensional joint enforcement campaign, conducting a thorough safety sweep across Shanwei’s waters. Ten units participated in this campaign, including Shanwei Maritime Safety Administration, South China Sea First Rescue Flight Team, Shanwei Marine Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade, Shanwei Transportation Bureau, Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone Station of China Coast Guard, Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone Anti-Smuggling and Coastal Defense Office, Shanwei Waterway Office, and Shantou Navigation Aids Office.
The operation focused on patrolling over 30 critical water areas, including the North-South Channel, anchorages, sand mining zones, offshore wind farms, and the Phase II breakwater project of Xiaomo Port. Shantou Navigation Aids Office leveraged its technical expertise in navigation security to inspect port-area navigational aids facilities, ensuring the safety and order of the maritime traffic environment in key zones. Firstly, it conducted patrol inspections of navigation aid facilities and navigation environments in areas such as Shanwei Port Channel, Shanwei Power Plant Channel, sand mining zones, and offshore wind farms. Checks were performed on the positioning of navigation marks, buoy structures, and lighting equipment operations in key waters, with timely repairs of equipment malfunctions and safety hazards to ensure sustained stability in maritime safety conditions. Secondly, inspections were carried out on the maintenance and management of dedicated navigation marks within the jurisdiction, including testing the operational status and performance efficiency of dedicated navigation aid equipment to guarantee safe vessel navigation. During the operation, the office also engaged in discussions with Shanwei Maritime Safety Administration and other units regarding the maintenance of public navigation aids and contracted dedicated navigation marks. Proposals were made to strengthen collaboration in technical reviews of dedicated navigation mark installation plans, technical assessments, regular joint inspections, and enhancing the "island-hopping tourism" cultural development in Shanwei, jointly safeguarding stable navigation conditions in local waters.
Shantou Navigation Aids Office takes this operation as an opportunity to fulfill its duties and continuously enhance regional navigation environment awareness capabilities. It will intensify inspections of dedicated navigation marks in key periods and critical waters, actively share real-time navigational aid information, and strengthen emergency response preparedness for maritime safety. With a strong sense of responsibility and mission, the office will fully commit to ensuring maritime safety support during the 2025 May Day holiday, maintaining sustained stability in waterway traffic safety conditions within its jurisdiction.
