Zhangzhou Maritime Safety Administration Ensures Safe Berthing of "Jianghai Junchi" Vessel

From April 17th to 18th, the heavy-lift transport vessel “Jianghai Junchi” safely berthed at Berth South 11# in the Gulei Port Area under the meticulous supervision of the Zhangzhou Maritime Safety Administration. The scrubber carried by the vessel sets a new global record for equipment of its type with an oversized profile measuring 109 meters in total length, 10.2 meters in maximum diameter, and a total weight of 2,465 tons, truly earning its reputation as a “monumental national asset”. The successful berthing and roll-on/roll-off unloading of this colossal structure mark a significant acceleration in the construction of  Sino-Saudi Gulei Ethylene Project.

The Zhangzhou Maritime Safety Administration proactively enhanced communication and coordination by establishing a multi-party information platform involving the shipowner, terminal operators, and other stakeholders. This allowed for an early access to vessel and cargo details, enabling the provision of tailored guidance on navigation, berthing, and unloading operations. Real-time monitoring of meteorological and sea conditions ensured the vessel could enter the port at the first suitable window when wind and visibility met safety requirements. Additionally, the administration optimized navigational conditions, intensified patrols in anchorages, shipping channels, and waters near the terminal to promptly eliminate navigation hazards and ensure the safe entry of vessels into the port. During the berthing and unloading process, maritime law enforcement officers were deployed on-site to conduct comprehensive three-dimensional supervision using drones, patrol vessels, and smart maritime technologies. Continuous oversight of hot work and unloading operations helped mitigate risks and ensure safety throughout the process.
