The ocean stands for Shandong’s greatest development advantage , as well as its greatest potential and space. From the Shandong Ocean Economy High-quality Development Conference held on October 23, the reported learned that Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd. has firmly strived to seek strength from the ocean and made every effort to improve its service level since its establishment five years ago. Shandong has made various achievements in the field, with its throughput spaning five hundred million tons,its container routes reaching357 in total and foreign trade routes getting to 258, topping the North of China with its density and quantity . Shandong now embraces 50 and 100 inland ports and trains respectively,unblocking the "artery" of the ocean economy.
Lin Wu, secretary of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, attended the conference and stressed that efforts should be made to build a world-class marine port to deepen the reform of port integration. He emphasized to implement a new round of upgrading project on port facilitiesand strive to improve the collection and distribution and transpotation system, so as to accelerate the construction of a large channel connecting the land and the ocean along the Yellow River.He also called to cultivate and expand the high-level shipping service industry, to build ashipping hub with international clout.
Under the strong leadership of the provincial party committee and the government, Shandong Port Group will keep committed to the mission of "leading the way and carrying the beam", striving to increase thethroughput to another million tons this year, and exceeding 1.8 billion tons; by 2030, the throughput will exceed 2.1 billion tons, and the container throughput will exceed 54 million TEUs; by 2040, a world-class marine port group will be built, making new and greater contributions to building a development highland for modern ocean economy .
Taking the construction of a world-class cluster of seaports as a key focus, Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd will expedite the planning of major projects for the 15th Five-Year Plan, aiming for a total investment exceeding 200 billion yuan, and continue to improve major infrastructure, key supporting facilities, and the collection and transportation system. The group will enhance close cooperation with ports in neighboring provinces and deepen the integration of sea, river, land, and air ports (“four port linkage”), promote the integration of port areas, industrial parks, and urban areas (“three areas integration”), and drive the clustering of cutting-edge industries such as high-end equipment and new energy in coastal areas, striving to provide a powerful engine for high-quality economic and social development.
The port carries 97% of Shandong's foreign trade import and export volume, establishing a “solid foundation” for the marine economy. Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd will strengthen the configuration of foreign trade routes aligned with the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the RCEP, aiming to achieve more than 300 foreign trade routes and reaching a container transshipment volume of 11 million TEU by 2030, accelerating the development of the Northeast Asia International Shipping Hub Center. The group will expand the network of inland ports and regular trains, enlarge sea-rail intermodal transfer hubs, and vigorously develop cross-border sea-rail transport to Central Asia and Europe, striving to build a robust land-sea two-way open “bridgehead”.
Looking to the future, Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd will accelerate its digital and intelligent transformation, promote the automation upgrade of traditional terminals, develop a “big model for the port industry”, initiate demonstrations of “AI + port”, and accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation. Efforts will be deepened in energy replacement, promoting the integration of wind, solar, storage, and hydrogen, establishing the first full-scenario hydrogen port in China, cultivating a green fuel industry system for ships, and building a green fuel port base.
