Li Xiaopeng Meets With The Deputy Prime Minister And Minister Of Transport Of Luxembourg Via Video

On August 26, Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport, met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Transport and Public Engineering François Bausch via video in Beijing to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

Li Xiaopeng pointed out that the global epidemic is still evolving and has a huge impact on transportation and international logistics. Cooperation is needed to stop the epidemic and connect transportation.

Luxembourg is located in the hinterland of Europe and is an important transportation and logistics hub in Europe. The Ministry of Transport of China attaches great importance to cooperation in the field of transport with EU countries, including Luxembourg, and strives for more pragmatic and mutually beneficial win-win achievements.

François Bausch spoke highly of China's commitment to carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and hoped that the two countries would strengthen technical exchanges in green transport and other fields, and promote the docking of railway freight platforms between the two sides and realize the regular operation of China-Europe trains.

Both sides agreed that, in the context of globalization, strengthening cooperation in the transport sector is of vital importance to promoting international economic and trade development. In recent years, China and Luxembourg have carried out fruitful cooperation in areas such as China-Europe trains and air cargo. They should continue to work together, deepen communication and exchange, strengthen mutual understanding, and jointly address global issues such as the COVID-19 and climate change, so as to promote China-Luxembourg transport and logistics cooperation to a new stage.

Li Xiaopeng invited François Bausch to lead a delegation to attend the second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference online. François Bausch thanked the Chinese side for the invitation and said he would attend and participate actively in various activities of the conference. The two sides agreed to exchange visits when epidemic prevention and control conditions permit.
