The 25th Meeting Of The China-Russia Sub-Committee On Transport Cooperation Was Held In An Effort To Promote A New Leap Forward In Their Transport Cooperation

On August 27, the 25th meeting of the Transport Cooperation Sub-Committee of the Regular Meeting of the Chinese and Russian Prime Ministers was held via video.

Entrusted by the ministers of the Ministry of Transport of the two countries, Dai Dongchang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport of China, and Alexander Zverev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation co-chaired the meeting. Five working groups of the sub-committee on Transport Cooperation, namely railway, motor transport, highway, maritime and river transport, civil aviation and ports, respectively reported their work. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on further promoting practical cooperation in the field of transport. After the meeting, the two sides signed the minutes of the meeting. Representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Commerce, General Administration of Customs, National Railway Administration and Civil Aviation Administration of China attended the meeting.

Dai dongchang pointed out that the sub-committee on Transport Cooperation is an important cooperation mechanism in transport between the two countries. The Ministry of Transport of China and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation have made full use of the platform to push for positive progress in various cooperation projects. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the global economy downward pressure has increased. But under the prime ministers' regular meeting mechanism between China and Russia, sub-committee on transport cooperation and its working group actively carry out in promoting transportation infrastructure interconnectivity, transport facilitation, scientific and technological innovation, China and Russia have made great achievements in transport cooperation, for example, railway container freight volume is growing rapidly, Heihe Road Bridge and Tongjiang Railway Bridge were completed, the application of the Beidou-Glonass system in international road transport continues to deepen, The boundary river container transport line develops steadily. Arctic shipping cooperation has been deepened, border ports maintain efficient operation.

Dai Dongchang said comprehensively deepening China-Russia transport cooperation is of great significance to ensure the stability and smooth flow of logistics supply chains and support the economic and social development of the two countries. In the face of the severe global challenges posed by COVID-19, relevant departments of China and Russia will continue to work side by side to enhance cooperation, strive to make new breakthroughs in China-Russia transport cooperation and jointly create a better future.

Zverev appreciated China's efforts in pushing forward China-Russia transport cooperation, saying that Russia will further strengthen communication and exchanges with China to push the cooperation to a new level. Zverev spoke highly of the efforts made by both sides to promote the completion of the Heihe Road Bridge and Tongjiang Railway Bridge, and expressed willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in transportation under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other frameworks.

Dai Dongchang conveyed minister Li Xiaopeng's invitation to Minister Saveriev to lead a delegation to attend the second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference online.

Prior to the meeting, Dai Dongchang and Zverev held a small range of talks and fully exchanged views on key issues of common concern.
