CCS Qinhuangdao Branch Safeguards World's Largest Multipurpose Pulp Carrier

Recently, the CSPC NEPTUNE, the final newly built vessel in a series of 84,500 DWT multipurpose pulp carriers constructed by Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited Dalian Shipbuilding Industry) for China CITIC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., successfully completed all sea trials. The trials were carried out under the survey of China Classification Society (CCS) Qinhuangdao Branch. This milestone signifies the imminent successful conclusion of the construction series by Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding, adding a significant achievement to China's portfolio in high-end specialized shipbuilding.

During the trials, surveyors from CCS Qinhuangdao Branch adhered to principles of precision and rigor, providing round-the-clock professional technical support. From the main engine endurance test to speed and EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) tests, and from unattended machinery space verification to radio equipment calibration, the surveyors worked tirelessly day and night. They completed 21 major rigorous tests covering navigation, maneuvering, and core ship systems. Through the joint efforts of the project team, the shipyard, and the shipowner, the vessel's excellent navigation stability and cargo loading efficiency were fully validated. The sea trials were completed in a short duration and met high standards. "The professionalism of the survey team was impressive, and the vessel's performance exceeded expectations", commented the project manager from CITIC Financial Leasing and the superintendent from COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. who participated in the trials.

During the sea trial period, Party branches from the classification society, shipowner, shipyard, and related units jointly organized a "Party Construction Red Guides Sea Trial Blue" five-party co-learning and co-building activity. This initiative deeply integrated the study of the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with the business of ship sea trials. A special study session on the plenary session spirit was held in the form of a "Deck Classroom", where participants engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on the plenary session content. Using Party building as a bond, all parties united to form a strong synergy for "jointly ensuring successful sea trials and promoting development", providing solid assurance for the smooth completion of the sea trials and the achievement of high-quality vessel delivery and operation.
