On May 13, Li Shixin, Vice President of the China Institute of Navigation (CIN), led a delegation to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for a research exchange. Song Yingdong, HEU’s Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President, and Yin Jingwei, member of the Party Committee and Vice President, along with representatives from the university’s Science Association, Research Academy, relevant academic departments and key laboratories participated in the exchanges. Accompanying the delegation were CIN’s Executive Secretary-General Liu Shun, Deputy Secretary-General Liu Ying, and Director of the Journal Editorial Department Chen Shijun.
During the symposium, Li Shixin stated that CIN remains dedicated to serving maritime technological advancement and talent cultivation, actively fostering professionals in maritime science and technology. HEU, as a high-level research university in naval architecture and marine engineering, has made significant contributions to the high-quality development of the shipping industry. He expressed hope for strengthened communication and deepened cooperation between the two parties in areas such as international academic dissemination, technological achievement transformation, and talent development, jointly contributing wisdom and strength to building China into a maritime power.
President Song Yingdong extended a warm welcome to Li Shixin and the delegation, providing an overview of the university. He noted that HEU thoroughly implements General Secretary Xi Jinping’s guiding principles during his inspection of the university, and adheres to its distinctive development path and open educational philosophy, forming a pronounced “Three Oceans and One Nuclear” institutional characteristic. Song acknowledged CIN as a pivotal force in advancing China’s maritime endeavors, with its extensive history, comprehensive scope, and broad membership wielding profound influence in the maritime sector. He proposed that both sides deepen cooperation focused on national strategic needs, particularly in talent cultivation and scientific research, so as to better support high-level technological self-reliance in marine science and technology and autonomous talent development.
Vice President Yin Jingwei highlighted HEU’s breakthroughs in smart marine equipment, underwater acoustic technology, and intelligent navigational craft. He expressed anticipation for deepened cooperation with CIN in areas including scientific achievement evaluation, joint academic platform development, and maritime journal partnerships, aiming to drive progress in the maritime industry.
Participants from both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as specialized committee development, academic and science popularization activities, and educational training. Following the symposium, Li Shixin and the delegation conducted research visits to HEU’s Harbin Military Engineering Memorial Hall, Scientific and Technological Achievements Exhibition Hall, and laboratories focused on intelligent navigational craft and underwater acoustic technology.
