Director Wang Lei visited the Salvage and Rescue Professional Committee of China Institute of Navigation to conduct research and provide guidance.

On October 11, 2024, Director Wang Lei, head of China Rescue and Salvage of Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China and deputy director of the China Maritime Search and Rescue Center, together with his delegation, made an official visit to the Salvage and Rescue Professional Committee of China Institute of Navigation. They conducted research and provided guidance on the high-quality development and innovation of the salvage and rescue industry, and offered opinions on related work initiatives. 

During the research visit, Director Wang Lei and his delegation toured the cultural corridor of the Salvage and Rescue Professional Committee, gaining an in-depth understanding of its historical evolution, cultural accumulation, and achievements over recent years. Chairman Yao Shiguang presented a report on the main work carried out by the committee in 2024 and its work plans for the next step. After listening to the report, Director Wang Lei fully affirmed the work carried out and achievements made by the Salvage and Rescue Professional Committee. He pointed out that as a professional and authoritative academic organization, the committee plays an irreplaceable role in promoting academic research, technological innovation, and development within the industry. 

    During the research discussion, Director Wang Lei emphasized that the salvage and rescue industry should closely focus on the implementation of the strategies for “building a strong marine nation” and “building a country with great transport strength,” further elevate its political standing, strengthen technological innovation, and continuously enhance salvage and rescue capabilities through the cultivation of new productive forces, better serving national economic and social construction and development. He encouraged the committee to continue leveraging its resources and advantages in academic research, strengthening ties with member units, relevant units and departments, related scientific research institutions, and universities, and fully utilizing important platforms such as international forums and academic seminars to promote exchanges among peers both domestically and internationally, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of the salvage and rescue industry through mutually beneficial cooperation and positive outcomes. He hoped that in future work, the committee would continue to enhance equipment technology and team capabilities through academic leadership and technological innovation, continuously expand China’s influence in international maritime affairs and the salvage and rescue field, and continuously promote China’s salvage and rescue efforts to play a greater role on the international stage.

    Director Wang Lei’s research and guidance inspired the work direction and ideas of the Salvage and Rescue Professional Committee for some time in the future. Under the leadership of China Institute of Navigation, the committee will conscientiously follow the work deployments and requirements of its superiors, fully leverage the unique role of a professional academic organization, actively and pragmatically carry out work with innovation, and contribute more wisdom and strength to the construction of a modern professional salvage and rescue system.
