Xu Haibo, Vice Director-General of Provincial Department of Transportation, Guangdong, Led Delegation to Visit China Institute of Navigation

On the morning of December 10, Xu Haibo, Vice Director-General of the Provincial Department of Transportation, Guangdong, led a delegation to visit China Institute of Navigation (CIN). They engaged in the working meeting with Liu Shun, Secretary-General of CIN and relevant leaders from the secretariat.  

Vice Director-General Xu elaborated on the strategic positioning of the port and shipping industry in light of Guangdong’s economic and social development. He emphasized that Guangdong attaches great importance to the crucial role of the the port and shipping sector in regional economic planning and the modern integrated transportation system. He hoped that this would leverage the national-level intellectual resources and platform advantages of CIN to inject new momentum into Guangdong’s port and shipping sector, driving it toward a high-quality development from a higher strategic perspective.  

Secretary-General Liu Shun extended his warm welcome to Vice Director-General Xu and the delegation, providing a brief introduction to the main functions of CIN. He stated that the institute has long been committed to building a national academic exchange platform in the port and shipping sector, accumulating extensive experience in areas such as technology services, achievement transformation, talent cultivation, and academic exchanges. He particularly highlighted successful models of regional cooperation pioneered by the Institute, especially practical cases in technical consulting and industrial collaboration.  

Focusing on key issues in the development of the port and shipping industry, the two sides conducted pragmatic and in-depth discussions and reached a consensus on strengthening cooperation. In the future, they will further enhance the exchange and collaboration in key areas such as coordinated development of port and shipping resources, green and low-carbon transition, and intelligent development. In particularly, they will actively explore pathways for cooperation in high-end fields such as shipping finance, shipping insurance, and maritime legal services. Additionally, they will jointly explore cooperation mechanisms for the cultivation and recommendation of high-level professionals, with a view to achieving practical outcomes.

The meeting was also attended by Liu Ying, Deputy Secretary-General of CIN; Yin Yanjie, Deputy Director of the Department of General Affairs; Wen Wanjun, Director of Port Administration Division of the Provincial Department of Transportation, Guangdong; Pan Feng, Director of Water Transport Administration Division; and Liang Zhuohui, staff member of Water Transport Administration Division.
