On the afternoon of May 11, 2020, the First Executive Committee Conference of International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN) in 2020 was held online. The conference was presided over by Jonh Pottle, chairman of IAIN. Representatives from various organizations attended the conference, including the Royal Institute of Navigation, Arab Institute of Navigation, Poland Institute of Navigation, Japan Institute of Navigation, Korean Institute of Navigation and Port Research, Netherlands Institute of Navigation, the Nordic Institute of Navigation, Austrian Institute of Navigation and America Institute of Navigation. Huang Youfang, former chairman of CIN, attended the conference as a senior vice chairman of IAIN, with representatives from the Academic Exchange Apartment as non-voting delegates.
The conference discussed the items on the agenda, such as the Annual Financial Report of 2019, the Five-Year Plan for development as of 2021, election procedures of Chairman, the nomination of the 2021-2024 Executive Committee, the work report of the World Conference and the 2021 awards review.
The leaders of CIN attached great importance to the preparations for the conference, including drafting relevant reports, studying conference documents, discussing nominated candidates before the conference. He Jianzhong, Chairman of CIN, gave instructions on the principles and positions of the community in several addresses. During the conference, the group submitted a report on the preparations for the 2024 IAIN World Conference, reported the structure and work plan of the 2021 Awards Committee, and participated in discussions on issues, such as the Five-Year Development Plan and Executive Committee nomination.
The conference was originally scheduled to be held in Dresden, Germany. Due to the pandemic, it was organized in the form of cloud conference and won the favor of the representatives of various countries. The next Conference was scheduled in Baška, Croatia on May 17, 2021.
