On July 7, 2019 Maritime Popular Science Knowledge Contest, National Youth, themed as “Great Navigation, New Silk Road", was held on Meishan campus, Ningbo University. The contest was hosted by CIN and Ningbo Education Bureau, organized by Zhejiang Institute of Navigation and Ningbo Institute of Navigation and co-sponsored by Ningo Science &Technology Innovation Association, Ningbo Federation of Small And Medium-Sized Shipping Enterprises, Maritime College of Ningbo University, Ningbo Shipping Group Company Co. Ltd. and Ningbo Pilot Station.
In presence were leaders of CIN, Zhejiang CIN , Ningbo Education Bureau, Ningo Science &Technology Innovation Association, Ningbo University, Meishan Cutural Council of Science &Technology and Ningbo CIN . Shen Yajun, Chairman of Zhejiang Institue of Navigation made a speech of welcome. Gu Weiguo, Deputy of CIN delivered a speech and declared the opening.
The contest aims to stimulate teenagers to acquire navigation knowledge, spread the popular science, and advance their comprehensive quality of navigation and maritime studies. After the preliminary selection from local navigation Institutes nationwide, 15 representative groups from 12 provinces and cities come to finals.
The contest was divided into the preliminary and the final on the spot. Representatives competed on computers in the preliminary round and the top 6 groups were selected to the final round. During the final, each group member performed actively and boldly selected the high-score questions. After the fierce competition of three sections——Required Question, Quick Response and Risk Question--Group 2 from the Maritime College of Ningbo University on behalf of Ningbo CIN won the first prize.
The contest was listed by the Organizing Committee of China Maritime Day as one of the essential annual mass events. So far there had been 4 sessions since 2015, playing positive social influence and winning tremendous praise by all sectors. Maritime Popular Science Knowledge Contest, National Youth promoted scientific spirit, popularized maritime scientific knowledge, advanced the popularization of maritime science , stimulated the enthusiasm of young people to learn navigation knowledge as well as attracted more young people's attention to devote themselves to the development of navigation.
