The 2018 Technical Symposium on Communication and Navigation of China Institute of Navigation(CIN) Held in Nanjing

From October 17 to 19, 2018, the 2018 Technical Symposium of the Communication and Navigation Specialized Committee (hereinafter referred to as CNSC) of CIN was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Pang Fuwen, Director of CNSC and Professor of Dalian Maritime University attended and chaired the symposium. Ren Guangfu, Vice President of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Nanjing Pengli Technology Group Limited Company, gave a welcome speech on behalf of the organizer. Liu Ying, Director of Academic Department of CIN, attended and addressed the symposium. More than 60 representatives attended the symposium, including relevant departments of Ministry of Transport(MOT), research institutes of universities, enterprises and Classification Societies in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjn, Fujian, Liaoning, Hubei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Zhejiang,etc.

Ren Guangfu, extended a warm welcome to representatives who came to attend this conference in Nanjing on behalf of Pengli Group. He introduced the status quo of the Group’s recent development and invited representatives to visit the laboratories after the symposium. On behalf of CIN, Director Liu Ying acknowledged the achievements of CNSC made over these years and hoped CNSC continue to make contributions to the development of China's shipping industry in the future. Chairman Pang Fuwen gave a concluding report on the CNSC's work of the past year.

This symposium mainly aimed to pay attention to the latest developments of the marine communication and navigation technology in the Yangtze River. Discussions were made about the important roles of the communication and navigation technology and other technologies such as AIS and VTS played in developing China’s communication and navigation technology in the Yangtze River. During the symposium, Xia Jinfeng, senior engineer of Pengli Technology Limited Company, gave a technical report on Pengli Yangtze River Channel Intelligent Maritime System. Ji Yuguan, chief engineer from Institute 708 of China Shipbuilding Industry, made a technical report on Yangtze River Green Intelligent Marine Technology. Wei Maosu, senior engineer of China Classification Society, delivered a technical report on Online Intelligent Management System of Ship Energy Efficiency. Hu Zhuoyu, chief engineer of Nanjing Wireless Power Plant, made a technical report on Unified Communication System of Yangtze River Waterway and Shore. Professor Zhu Qiuyu from Shanghai University made a technical report on Intelligent Ship-based Management System and Integrated Platform. Chen Qianqian from Wuhan University of Technology made a technical report on The Latest Research of AIS. Huang Penggang from Institute 20 of Electronics Technology Group, made a technical report on The Latest Devlopment of VTS. Shi Xiaofei and Liu Chang from Dalian Maritime University made technical reports on Development Framework of Yangtze River Intelligent Communication Navigation Network and The Standard and Normative System of Yangtze River Communication and Navigation Network respectively.

This symposium provided a great platform for enterprise,institutions and colleges relating to maritime affairs, telecommunication and navigation to exchange ideas. Representatives generally believed that the Yangtze River communication and navigation technology needs to be further improved. Based on its own strength, CNSC will put forward strategies and suggestions, and play its due role in developing China's communication and navigation technology in the Yangtze River.
