The 11th July, 2018 is the 14th Maritime Day of China and the day when the World Maritime Day is celebrated in China. The theme of Maritime Day of this year is "New Maritime Age, New Silk Road". In the past few days, China Institute of Navigation has hosted and attended a series of activities such as the China Maritime Forum and International Conference on Seafarers and Service. Huang Youfang, Chairman of China Institute of Navigation, attended the activities related to China Maritime Day at the same time.
On the morning of the 11th July, China Maritime Forum 2018, themed as“New Maritime Age, New Silk Road", was inaugurated at W Hotels on the Bund. The forum was co-sponsored by the Shanghai International Shipping Center Construction Promotion Group, and China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, Li Xiaopeng, Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Ying Yong, Mayor of Shanghai attended the forum and delivered speeches. He Jianzhong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport, Lin Jize, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, Shi Guanghui, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai, and Xu Lirong, Chairman of China Ocean Shipping Group, delivered the keynote speeches. Also attending the forum were Huang Zhendong, Li Shenglin, former Minister of the Ministry of Transport, Hong Shanxiang, Xu Zuyuan, former Deputy Minister, Huang Youfang, Chairman of the China Institute of Navigation and President of Shanghai Maritime University, Cao Di, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the China Institute of Navigation , Wang Qun, Secretary General, and Gu Weiguo, Deputy Secretary General of CIN.
Before the opening of the forum, the launching ceremony of the China Maritime Day thematic activities and the Ship's Open Day 2018 was held at the Shanghai International Cruise Terminal. He Jianzhong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport attended and announced the opening of the Ship Open Day. Shi Guanghui, Shanghai Vice Mayor attended and delivered a speech, Chairman Huang Youfang was invited to attend the forum.
In the afternoon of the 11th, Chairman Huang Youfang participated in the symposium on promoting the construction of a powerful transport country in Shanghai. Li Xiaopeng, Minister of the Ministry of Transport presided over the meeting and delivered an important speech. He Jianzhong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport, and Shi Guanghui, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai attended the symposium. Xu Chengguang, Director of the General Office of the Ministry of Transport, Li Tianbi, Director of the Water Transport Bureau, Xie Feng, Director of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, and major responsible person from more than 20 Shanghai Organizations attended the symposium, including Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration, Donghai Rescue Bureau, Shanghai Salvage Bureau, COSCO Shipping Group, Shanghai International Port Group, and Eastern Airlines Group. Chairman Huang Youfang made a report to Minister Li Xiaopeng on the work done by the China Institute of Navigation in serving national strategies such as the“Belt and Road”and building a powerful transportation country, and expressed that the Institute was willing to make greater contributions to the construction of the stronger transportation country. Minister Li Xiaopeng exchanged views with Chairman Huang Youfang on relevant issues with several times.
On the afternoon of the 11th, the 2018 International Conference on Seafarers and Service jointly hosted by China Institute of Navigation and Shanghai Maritime University was held at the China Financial Information Center. Cao Di, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of the China Institute of Navigation on behalf of the organizer delivered a speech. Wang Qun, Secretary General, and Gu Weiguo, Deputy Secretary General of CIN attended the forum. This forum focused on the training and development of seafarers, and discussed the hot topics such as the development status of Chinese seafarers, the management of multinational seafarers, and seafarers' physical and mental health and legal right protection. The forum invited senior executives and experts from enterprises and public institutions such as the International Maritime Organization, non-governmental international organizations, the Ministry of Transport, the Chinese Seafarers' Construction Union, and well-known shipping companies, ship management companies, crew management companies, and maritime institutions, to discuss the development status, training and management of seafarers in China and the world, further attracting more attention for seafarers, promoting the development of seafarers and injecting new power for advancing the construction of 21st century maritime silk roads and ocean power, maritime power and transportation power.
Previously, the 2018 Summer Summit of the "China Shipping 50 Forum", with the theme as "Improving Shanghai's comprehensive service capacity and building a world-class international shipping center" was held at Shanghai Ocean Hotel, and Xu Zuyuan, former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport attended the summit. Huang Youfang, Chairman of the Forum Executive Committee and the China Institution of Navigation and President of the Shanghai Maritime University attended the summit and delivered a speech on how shipping companies can upgrade and extend their service capabilities. At the summit, 20 professors or researchers were appointed as senior researchers of the China Shipping 50 Forum. Gu Weiguo, Deputy Secretary General of CIN attended the conference.
In order to cooperate with the various activities of China Maritime Day, the 2018 Shanghai“Lingang Cup”underwater intelligent robot competition was held at the swimming pool of the Shanghai Maritime University. The China Institution of Navigation is the guiding institution of this event. Gu Weiguo, Deputy Secretary General of the CIN attended the series of activities. The competition is based on ROV, AUV, ARV and other underwater unmanned submersibles to popularize the science and technology of underwater robot, encourage innovative new talents, and boost exchanges and cooperation between relevant marine high-tech enterprises and maritime research institutions. With the aim of developing the underwater intelligent robot industry, the competition exerted an important role in spreading marine knowledge, promoting marine culture, cultivating interest, and enhancing the motivation to acquire marine technology.
