From 3rd to 5th November, the 2017 Academic Annual Conference of Psychology Professional Committee of CIN was Held in Shanghai. This annual conference was hosted by the Psychology Professional Committee of CIN and organized by Shanghai Huayang Maritime Tech Co., Ltd., with the theme of ‘The Safety of Navigation and the Intervention of Seafarer's Psychological Crisis’.
Gu Weiguo, Deputy Secretary General of CIN, Xu Minqiang, Vice Chaireman of Navigation Psychology Professional Committee of CIN and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dalian Maritime University, Dai Jiajun, Vice-Chairman of Navigation Psychology Professional Committee of CIN and President of Institute of Psychological Science, Nantong University and Bao Rensong, General Manager of Shanghai Huayang Maritime Tech Co., Ltd attended the conference. Other participants include more than 30 representatives of multiple navigation colleges and universities and shipping enterprises and institutions from nationwide.
At the beginning of the conference, Professor Xu Minqiang, Vice-Chairman of Navigation Psychology Professional Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dalian Maritime University, delivered a welcome address to express the sincere welcome and heartfelt thanks to the representatives and pointed out that the core of realization of the strategy of being maritime transport powerful nation and ocean powerful nation lies in the construction of a contingent of high-quality shipping talents and hoped that the Navigation Psychology Professional Committee will make further efforts to deepen the development of China's Navigation Psychology.
CIN Deputy Secretary General Gu Weiguo made a speech on behalf of CIN. He positively affirmed the efforts and contributions made by the Navigation Psychology Professional Committee in promoting academic development in recent years. With the theme as ‘The Safety of the Navigation and the Intervention of Seafarer's Psychological Crisis’, Mr. Gu proposed to carry out systematic work from the seafarer management to the crisis response, from the seafarers’ psychological screening to the establishment of psychological archives, from the popularization of mental health knowledge to the establishment of psychological aid institutes and from the prevention of crisis to the post-crisis psychological intervention, and he also hoped that this annual conference will have an in-depth discussion of this issue so as to seek principles to be followed and feasible ways.
In this annual conference, Professor Shen Xinghua, Vice Director of Navigation Psychology Office of the Department of Psychological and Mental Hygiene and the Center for Mental Health for PLA and PhD Supervisor in the Second Military Medical University, delivered a keynote report on The Study on Psychological Adjustment Measures Against Crisis of Military Navigators During Sailing; Captain Hu Yuexiang, Former Senior Captain of China Shipping Group and national labor model, delivered a keynote report on The Impact of Time Difference on Seafarers’ Psychology and Physiology; Wang Youquan, Professor of Dalian Maritime University delivered a keynote report on Research Methods and Essay Writing of Navigation Psychology; Professor Ma Xiting, the Director of the Research Center for Students’ Psychological Consultation and Development Guidance and Master Supervisor in Beihang University, made a workshop themed as the Intervention of Seafarers Psychological Crisis.
This academic annual conference collected more than 40 papers, and 26 of which were chosen as award-winning papers after check and review by the experts within this sector. There are one first prize, 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes and 17 honorable mentions among them. These award-winning papers were commended in this annual conference and the representatives present conducted a fully discussion and exchange on the theme of these papers.
This annual conference set up an academic exchange platform for the representatives nationwide and explored a new method of the development of Navigation Psychology.
