The 2016 Academic Annual Conference of CIN was held in Dalian on October 19-20th. Director Huang Youfang took his time off to attend it from Shanghai.
In the opening address, Director Huang Youfang fully emphasized the positive significance of the academic annual conference, expounded on attention given to the academic activities by the previous Councils, and praised the achievements of the academic activities.
Director Huang focused primarily on the idea that the academic research on maritime must serve the interest of the national innovation-driven development strategy, actively promote the scientific and technological innovation of this field. Meanwhile, he made four proposals to the institute, on how to carry out the academic researches and communications. Firstly, the maritime academic research should keep to the right direction, emphasizing that following the right direction is more important than making great leap forward. Secondly, the maritime academic research should forge closer ties with national development strategy. By implementing the strategies like Marine Power, Maritime Power and One Belt One Road, our country has provided the maritime scientific and technological workers with a broad stage and vast space. For this reason, we need a closer integration of national strategies to accelerate development. Thirdly, the navigation academic research should pay more attention to the interdisciplinary integration of each subject, and focus more on the new growth point. Last but not least, the navigation academic research should focus more on the combination of theory and practice so as to upgrade functions of shipping industry chain and service chain.
