Notice on the Application for the 2026 STIA and YSTA of CIN

To All Relevant Entities:

The Science and Technology Award of CIN is a comprehensive award in the national maritime field registered with the national science and technology award authority (Registration No. Guo ke jiang She zheng Zi No. 0045).

In accordance with the Measures for Science and Technology Awards of CIN and the annual work arrangement, the application work for the Science and Technology Innovation Award (STIA) and Youth Science and Technology Award (YSTA) under the Science and Technology Award of CIN for 2026 is now launched. The relevant matters are notified as follows:

I. Application Conditions

(1) STIA (Individual)

Candidates should:

  1. Love the motherland, adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era;
  2. Practice the spirit of science and scientists, adhere to the “Four Orientations”;
  3. Be willing to contribute, have the courage to take responsibility, be honest in style, have a good reputation.

And meet one of the following conditions:

  1. Focus on the key and core technology bottlenecks in the maritime field, promote the industrialization of major scientific and technological achievements, create significant economic and social benefits;
  2. Solve complex engineering and technical problems in the maritime field, achieve major breakthroughs in engineering technology, and make outstanding contributions to national major engineering tasks;
  3. Make significant contributions to promoting maritime science and technology development, play a leading role, and have high visibility in relevant fields.

(2) YSTA

Candidates should:

  1. Love the motherland, adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era;
  2. Have made major achievements or outstanding contributions in scientific research or engineering technology;
  3. Be outstanding young science and technology leaders who are models of abiding by scientific ethics;
  4. Male candidates: ≤40 years old (born on or after January 1, 1985); Female candidates: ≤45 years old (born on or after January 1, 1980).

And meet one of the following conditions:

  1. Have made important and innovative achievements in scientific research;
  2. Have made major and creative achievements in engineering and technology, with significant application effects;
  3. Have made outstanding achievements in the promotion of scientific and technological achievements, producing significant social or economic benefits.

Winners of previous YSTA will not be awarded repeatedly.

II. Timeline

The deadline for submission is April 24. Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted. All recommending organizations are advised to make thorough preparations and arrange their schedules accordingly.

III. Application Requirements

1. Each organization may nominate no more than two candidates respectively for the Scientific and Technological Innovation Award (Individual) and the Young Scientist Award. All nominees must be individual members of China Institute of Navigation.

2. Applications must be submitted through China Institute of Navigation’s Science and Technology Services System (http://kjfw.cinnet.cn). An operation manual for the system is attached for reference.

IV. Additional Notes

1. Recommending organizations and individuals are expected to uphold the highest standards of scientific ethics and academic integrity. They should adhere to the principles of rigor, precision, and accountability in scientific innovation, promote a culture that is scientific, rational, equitable, and grounded in solid work, and resolutely prevent the submission of projects involving false innovation, superficial claims, or inflated evaluation of research outcomes.
