Notice on the Recommendation of Candidates for the 19th China Young Women Scientists Award and the 8th Future Women Scientists Program

According to the requirements of the document of Notice of CAST, the All-China Women's Federation, and China National Commission for UNESCO on the Recommendation of Candidates for the 19th China Young Women Scientists Award and the 8th Future Women Scientists Program, CIN is now carrying out the candidate (team) recommendation work. Relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
I. Recommended condition
1．All candidates (team members) must be individual members of CIN
2．China Young Women Scientists Award
The China Young Women Scientist Award has individual awards and team awards.
a. Individual Award of China Young Women Scientist Award
i. Candidates should be ideologically and politically committed; love the motherland; abide by the law; uphold the Party's line, principles and policies; enhance the "Four Consciousness", firm the "Four Self-confidence", resolutely achieve "Two Maintenance"; have a decent academic style; actively practice scientist spirit.
ii. Candidates should be young science and technology leaders with development potential who have achieved significant scientific and technological innovations in the fields of basic science, life science, computer and information.
iii. Candidates should be Chinese women in science and technology under the age of 45 years old (born on or after January 1, 1977).
Previous winners of China Youth Science and Technology Award are not recommended as candidates for the China Young Women Scientists Award.
b. China Young Women Scientist Award Team Award:
i. The team leader must meet the selection criteria for the China Young Women Scientist Award; the team structure is stable and reasonable; and the main members must be female scientists and technicians.
ii. The team undertakes major scientific research tasks in the fields of national basic science, life science, computer and information, and achieves innovative and systematic major scientific and technological achievements.
iii. The team has a clear R&D goal and development plan, and has the ability of continuous innovation and good development prospect.
Previous winners of the Individual Award for Young Chinese Women Scientists are not nominated as team leaders.
c. The 8th Future Women Scientists Program
i. Candidates should be ideologically and politically committed, abide by the law, be honest and ethical, work hard, and have a good academic and moral character.
ii. Candidates should engage in research in basic science, life science, or computer and information, demonstrating strong research ability and development potential. Research projects involving animals (e.g., experimental vertebrates) and cosmetic research are not included.
iii. Candidates should be Chinese women doctoral students or post doctors (the candidate's academic or working relationship should be in China, and the doctoral students should be full-time) under the age of 35 years old (born on or after January 1, 1987).
iv. Candidates should have a scientific research project to be carried out with the funding of this program, and the duration of the research of the project after receiving the funding is not less than 12 months.
II. Recommended channels and quotas
All branches and member units should organize the recommendation work carefully. Each recommended unit recommend no more than one individual women scientist award, one China Young Women Scientist Award Team Award and one candidate for the Future Women Scientists Program to participate in the evaluation.
III. Nomination requirements
1.Military system candidates or teams are nominated by the Political Work Department of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC), and may not be nominated by other nomination channels (including organizational nominations and expert nominations).
2.Each candidate must explicitly participate in one of the three awards: Individual Award of China Young Women Scientist Award, Team Award (Head) or Future Women Scientist Program.
3. We should adhere to the principle of "openness, justice, fairness and meritocracy", broaden the nomination channels, be strict in selection conditions, adhere to the innovation value, ability and contribution-oriented evaluation criteria for scientific and technological talent, overcome the tendency of only emphasizing papers, titles, academic background, and awards, and ensure the quality of the selection. Please make a clear distinction among "the contribution of individuals, teams and units in the production of science and technology". Relevant candidates are encouraged to use the case databases of research instruments, etc. as a representative work of scientific and technological achievements.
4. Please give priority to the outstanding young women in science and technology who have been working for a long time in the front line of scientific research and production as well as in difficult industries in the western region, and pay attention to the enterprise front-line women science and technology workers. The contribution of the results listed in the nomination form should be made mainly in China, and the candidate (team) should be the main contributor or main author of the results.
5. The research direction of the candidate team should be in line with the key development needs of the country and industry, with a reasonable structure and good capacity for sustainable development and service.
6. Candidates for the Future Women Scientists Program should focus on both the results achieved and the research potential demonstrated by the scientific work they have undertaken so far, as well as the innovation of the projects to be applied for funding.
7. Recommended units, candidates, and teams should conscientiously adhere to scientific ethics and academic norms. Nomination materials should be concise, focused, objective, accurate and complete. Those with false materials or other academic misconduct will be disqualified for selection or revoked for awards and grants according to procedures after verification If the candidate or team is complained, the nominating unit and the unit where the candidate or team is located shall investigate and verify and provide written investigation materials and concluding opinions.
8. Candidates or team leaders of the China Young Women Scientist Award must seek the views of cadre’s management, discipline inspection and supervision departments in accordance with cadre management authority. If candidates or team leaders of the China Young Women Scientist Award are persons in charge of the enterprise, they must also seek the views of the relevant departments in accordance with the Questionnaire for the Person in Charge of Enterprise.
9. If recommended materials involve state secrets, the candidate's unit will issue a certificate of confidentiality review in strict accordance with the relevant confidentiality provisions. Those who violate the confidentiality provisions shall be disqualified from nomination.
IV. Materials submission requirements
Non-individual members of CIN need to register as members.

a. PDF version of the Recommendation Form with official seal (Annexes 1-3)
b. One PDF file including Annexed Materials, summarizing representative achievements, important scientific and technological awards, major research projects, representative papers and publications, important invention patents and other supporting materials
c. A scanned copy of the original certificate of confidentiality review of the above materials issued by the confidential department of the candidate's unit.
The title of the email should be: Name of the sub award + name of the candidate + name of the unit. Please include the contact information of the recommended unit in the email.
