On April 27, the winners of the 2026 China Youth May Fourth Medal and the New‑Era Youth Pioneer Award were announced. Wang Jing, Director of the Eco‑Environmental Protection Research Institute, CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CCCC Fourth Harbor Research Institute), has been conferred the New‑Era Youth Pioneer Award.

As a young sci‑tech practitioner engaged in front‑line environmental geotechnical engineering for more than a decade, Wang Jing has always oriented her youthful pursuit toward the development of national infrastructure, and demonstrated the "core competence" of a youth pioneer through practical deeds.
During the construction of Phase III of Nansha Port Area, Guangzhou Port, Wang Jing first put forward a modified sand‑drain consolidation theory for Nansha soft soil, which greatly shortened the construction period and cut costs. Faced with the disposal challenge of 10.72 million cubic meters of dredged sediment in the Yangtze‑to‑Huaihe Water Diversion Project, she innovatively proposed a three‑in‑one ecological solidification scheme of "natural sedimentation, purified drainage and phytostabilization". The scheme reduced the solidification cycle from the original 3‑5 years to 6‑9 months, turning 6,300 mu of dredged soil into fertile farmland.
At the forefront of scientific and technological innovation, Wang Jing adheres to the talent‑cultivation concept of "passing on skills, offering guidance and nurturing successors", embodying the sense of responsibility of a youth role model. Drawing on the solid research foundation of CCCC Fourth Harbor Research Institute, she founded the "Wang Jing Model Worker & Craftsman Talent Innovation Studio". On this platform, she led young sci‑talents to set up the Youth Innovation Studio for Water Pollution Prevention, Control and Resource Recycling in Engineering Construction, targeting technical bottlenecks in water pollution treatment and resource recycling. For her remarkable innovative achievements, Wang Jing was honored as one of the 9th "Top Ten Outstanding Young Talents of CCCC Group". Her youth team was officially named a "CCCC Group Youth Innovation Studio", cultivating a pool of young back‑bone technicians for the industry.
She shoulders her research mission with the enterprising spirit of young innovators and serves national strategies with tangible achievements. Up to now, Wang Jing has led more than 20 key national and provincial‑ministerial research projects, won 12 provincial‑ministerial sci‑tech awards, obtained over 40 national patents, published 2 academic monographs and participated in the formulation of 5 industrial standards. She has received more than 10 honors at or above the provincial‑ministerial level. She has broken through multiple core bottleneck problems in environmental geotechnical engineering, injecting "youth‑driven momentum" into national infrastructure construction and the great cause of national rejuvenation.
The China Youth May Fourth Medal and the New‑Era Youth Pioneer Award represent the highest honors conferred on outstanding Chinese young people by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the All‑China Youth Federation. The honors are designed to set exemplary young role models with political awareness, noble ethics and outstanding contributions, reflect the spiritual character and value pursuit of Chinese youth in the new era, and inspire young people to commit themselves to Chinese‑style modernization and take on responsibilities for building a powerful country and realizing national rejuvenation. A total of 29 individuals and 30 collectives were awarded the China Youth May Fourth Medal this time, while 749 individuals received the title of New‑Era Youth Pioneer.
