CCCC Third Harbor Engineering Co. Wins Bid for Two Temporary Terminals of Three Gorges New Water Transport Channel

Recently, the Third Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. of CCCC won the bid for the construction of the Letianxi and Xia’anxi temporary terminals under the Three Gorges New Water Transport Channel Project.

The Letianxi temporary terminal is located on the north bank of the Yangtze River, approximately 9 kilometers downstream of the Three Gorges Dam and about 500 meters upstream of the Letianxi estuary, which will include one 3,000-ton ro-ro berth and one 5,000-ton bulk cargo berth. The Xia’anxi temporary terminal is located about 2 kilometers downstream of the Letianxi estuary on the left bank of the Yangtze River and will include one 5,000-ton bulk cargo berth. The main construction scope of this contract section includes land formation and foundation treatment for the temporary terminals, cargo handling process equipment, hydraulic structures, roads and storage yards, production and auxiliary buildings, power supply and lighting, information and communication systems, control systems, water supply and drainage, and fire protection facilities. The total planned construction period is 20 months.

The Three Gorges New Water Transport Channel is a major national project under the 14th Five-Year Plan. The Letianxi and Xia’anxi temporary terminals, located on the north bank of the Three Gorges Dam area, serve as the “starting line” of the entire project. They undertake the waterborne transshipment and handling of construction materials, equipment, and supplies required for the main works, and constitute key supporting nodes to ensure efficient project advancement and reduce construction costs. The project is of significant practical importance and strategic value for accelerating the resolution of navigation bottlenecks at the Three Gorges, improving the functionality of the Yangtze River Golden Waterway, and supporting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
