First Global Sustainable Transport Cultural Exchange Project Promotes Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Transportation Professionals from Various Countries

     On September 5th, hosted by the Ministry of Transport and organized by Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center, First Global Sustainable Transport Cultural Exchange Project officially commenced in Beijing.

     Since the launch of this project,it has attracted close attention and widespread participation, a total of 26 participants from 20 countries, including transportation officials and scholars attended this program. Dai Dongchang, former Vice Minister of Transport, Wang Xingxing, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Transport, and Yan Xuedong, Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

     In his address, Dai Dongchang pointed out that this cultural exchange project is an important practice by Ministry of Transport to resolutely implement the gist of General Secretary Xi's keynote speech at the Opening Ceremony of The Second United Nations Global Sustainable Transport Conference and the congratulatory letter on the establishment of the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center. It is also the important measure to follow the vision of Staying Connected with the World and Abreast with the Times. The program aims to share China's knowledge and experience in the sustainable development in transport, facilitate exchanges, mutual learning, and knowledge sharing among transportation professionals from various countries, and push for international cooperation in transportation, especially in developing countries. The project will further strengthen international exchanges and cooperation on sustainable transport, promote the achievement of sustainable transport, and make a greater contribution to global sustainable development.

     The first phase of the project will last for four weeks, combining classroom discussions with field researches. The program will focus on three main themes: transport infrastructure, transport services and government governance and policy research. A total of 26 participants from 20 countries, including transportation officials and scholars, will study and exchange theories, policies, systems, technology, and learn from each other's experiences, experience China's transport development. From September 25th to 26th, the participants will also attend the Global Sustainable Transport Forum (2023) and visit the 15th International Exhibition on Transport Technology and Equipment (CHINA TRANSPO).
