On June 18, in order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the scene with the theme of “Great Journey -- A Special Exhibition to Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China” and “Shining Spark” was officially unveiled in the terminal, as the fruit of cooperation between Beijing Daxing International Airport (hereafter refers to as Airport), Capital Museum, Shanghai History Museum (Shanghai Revolutionary Museum), Hebei Museum, Memorial for the Site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Xibaipo Memorial Hall.
“Great Journey -- A Special Exhibition to Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China” is located between check-in islands E and F on the fourth floor of the Airport terminal, and it will be on display for two months. The red-themed exhibition reproduces the history of the CPC’s continuous exploration of the localization of Marxism in China, including four parts: “Rising up from the East”, “Starting a Prairie Fire from A Single Spark”, “Standing as a Rock in Midstream” and “Winning the Final Victory”. It presented four historical periods as the timeline—the birth of the CPC, the Agrarian Revolution, the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the founding of the People’s Republic of China and employed color as the guide to restore major historical events, to show the four historical stages of truth exploration, repeated practice, arduous struggle and final victory. Through historical photos and images, the exhibition presents the 100-year revolutionary history of the CPC from the birth of the Party to the founding of the P.R.C. in a general and condensed manner.
“This exhibition gives me a journey from 1919 to 1949 in just a few minutes, reviewing the history from the birth of the CPC to the founding of P.R.C. Through these old photos, I feel that I were back to those memorable years, walking through the tortuous but promising road. The red-themed exhibition filled with memories at the Airport leaves me a wonderful impression!” visitor Mr. Wang said excitedly.
Stepping into the exhibition hall, you can see the golden figures from 1919 to 1949, which are set to connect the themes of the exhibition vertically, showing the struggle of the CPC since its founding through photos along the Party’s history. In the early stage, the Airport had in-depth exchanges with the Capital Museum for the plan and cooperation of the theme exhibition project. Thanks to the above efforts, the exhibition design shows unique ingenuity. It makes full use of the overall attribute of the square space between the check-in islands on the fourth floor, and artistically imitates the shapes from Shikumen to Tian’anmen, with the overall layout in a central axisymmetric shape. The exhibition is mainly covered in red and gold to express the festive atmosphere of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. Besides, it is arranged in an unusual way, which is mainly based on vertical exhibition boards, combined with spray-painted yarn curtains, artistic characters and wave shapes, so as to ensure the transparency and hierarchy of the exhibition. Taking the centennial course of the founding of the CPC as the timeline, it shows a long “picture of the times”. Most of the photos shown in the exhibition are those with distinct time nodes and great historical significance, so that the visitors can enjoy the vigor and exuberance on the scene and jointly pursue the red marks on the 100-year road from the birth of the Party.
In addition, a “Shining Spark” red-themed scene is also set under the C-shaped column on the east side of the fourth floor of the Airport terminal, decorated with Party emblem, red column, five-pointed star and golden silk thread. With the sunshine through the window, the sparkling scene becomes a popular photo spot to explore the red times, attracting visitors taking photos here to leave “red images” of the Airport.
The red-themed exhibition and scene launched this time is another innovative attempt of the Airport to build a humanistic airport. In order to create a red-themed atmosphere to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, historical exhibitions and artistic scene are set to show important events in the history of the party. From the perspective of learning Party history and showing the humanistic airport, it shows the struggle of the CPC for 100 years, reflects the changes in all aspects of society, and creates a red classic cultural exhibition that records the changes of the times, so as to give travellers a chance to learn Party history, to cultivate Party spirit and to know more about the Party’s situation.
