The Fourth Plenary Session of the Fourth National Committee of the Chinese Seamen & Construction Workers’ Union was held in Beijing on August 26, where the report on the work of the committee was deliberated and approved, and the democratic procedures on personnel matters were fulfilled. Wei Dichun, vice president of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Wei Dichun fully affirmed the work of the Chinese Seamen & Construction Workers’ Union since the Third Plenary Session of the Fourth National Committee, and especially the performance since the occurrence of the COVID-19 epidemic, in which it has united and led the industrial workers to devote themselves to the prevention and control of the epidemic and the resumption of work and production. He stressed that trade unions at all levels and its cadres in the transportation construction industry should use Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, especially the General Secretary Xi Jinping's important views on the working class and Trade Union to arm the mind, to guide practice and to promote work, always grasp the correct political directions, constantly enhance political, advanced and mass character, and constantly improve the ability of industrial unions to participate in national governance and mobilize the industrial workers to actively participate in the construction of a beautiful China and a powerful country in transportation, and contribute wisdom and strength to securing a decisive victory of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and embarking on a new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects.
At the meeting, Li Qingzhong was elected President of the Fourth National Committee of the Chinese Seamen & Construction Workers’ Union, Wu Jiang was elected Vice President, 11 comrades including Lv Wenjun were elected members of the Standing Committee, and 54 comrades including Ma Wang were confirmed as formal committee members from their substitute roles, and 13 other comrades including Ding Jianmin were added as new committee members.
On behalf of the Standing Committee, Li Qingzhong, President of the Chinese Seamen & Construction Workers’ Union, made a work report entitled "Strive for Progress in Stability, Take the Initiative, Unite and Mobilize the Workers in the Transportation Construction Industry to Make Contributions to Win the Double Victories of Epidemic Prevention and Control and Achieve the Goal of Economic and Social Development", and put forward requirements for giving full play to the functions of members of the committee, and actively promoting industrial development and rights protection services. Li Qingzhong pointed out that members of the committee should further enhance their political commitment, responsibility and consciousness of examples, consciously shoulder the political mission, actively participate in the work of the committee, make contributions based on their own duties, and make new and greater contributions to the innovation and development of industrial work of Labor Union .
Wang Lizhong, Vice President of the Organization Department of the All China Federation of Trade Unions, made an explanation on personnel matters at the meeting. Cao Hongwei, Vice President, Pang Haichen and Zhai Shaihong, part-time Vice President of the National Committee of the Chinese Seamen & Construction Workers’ Union, attended the meeting. 184 members and representatives from the national transportation & construction industry also attended the meeting.
