The detection App for ship's black smoke was put into use

Recently, the detection App for ship's black smoke, developed by Tianjin Water Transport Engineering Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, commissioned by Shanghai Maritime Bureau, was officially put into use, in order to improve efficiency and provide technical support for maritime supervision.

It is reported that black smoke supervision of ships belonged to the frontier areas of law enforcement supervision at home and abroad, and traditional law enforcement forensics required the use of the cutting-edge dock CCTV system(closed circuit television system) and cameras to shoot black smoke, which was easily affected by such factors as changes in ambient light, differences in visual habits, the jitter of shooting devices, so its determination accuracy was difficult to meet law enforcement requirements.

After months of algorithm research, software development and field testing, Tianjin Water Transport Engineering Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, cooperated with Shanghai Maritime Bureau successfully developed the detection App for ship's black smoke, which can automatically identify, track and intelligently determine the level of black smoke emitted from the ship through the video taken on site.

At present, this App had been launched by China Maritime Integrated Service Platform. With the support of Shanghai Maritime Bureau, Tianjin Water Transport Engineering Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport would continue to do the research and develop related cutting-edge products, contributing to the construction of "clear water and green mountains" and the "clear sea and blue sky" action.
