The First Session of Committee of China Maritime Day 2024 Activity was Held in Tianjin

On January 17, the first session of Committee of China Maritime Day 2024 activity was held in Binhai New Area, Tianjin. He Jianzhong, Chairman of China Institute of Navigation and Director of the Organizing Committee, presided over the session. Before the session, Xie Yuan, Tianjin’s Deputy Mayor, exchanged views with Chairman He Jianzhong on the preparations of the activity of China Maritime Day 2024, and expressed that the Tianjin Municipal Government would fully supportthe hosting of China Maritime Day 2024 activity in Binhai New Area.

Guo Qingsong, Deputy Director of the Water Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, Zhang Baochen, Executive Vice President, Li Shixin, Vice Chairman of the China Institute of Navigation, Wang Zhiyi, Deputy Secretary General of the Tianjin Municipal Government, Wang Zhinan, Director of the Tianjin Transportation Commission, Wang Honghai, Director of the Tianjin Municipal Port and Maritime Administration, Chen Bo, Deputy Mayor of the Binhai New Area, Li Qing, Vice President of the Institute of Water Transportation Science of the Ministry of Transport and representatives of the committee, the Executive Committee and other relevant units attended the meeting.

The activity of China Maritime Day 2024 will be held from July 10 to 12 this year in Binhai New Area, Tianjin, jointly hosted by the China Institute of navigation, the People’s Government of Tianjin Binhai New Area, the Institute of Water Transportation Science and Research of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the China Association of Ports and Harbors, and Tianjin Port (Group) Co.

At the session, the draft plan and progress of the preparations for the activity of China Maritime Day 2024 were introduced, and the participants studied and discussed the program and put forward relevant suggestions.

He Jianzhong emphasized in his summary that we must promote the preparatory work in accordance with the overall requirements of “prominent theme, distinctive features, thrifty meeting, and seeking practical results. We must clarify the main framework of the activity and the responsibilities of the organizing and hosting units to ensure effective implementation. We must expand public participation, enrich the content of the activities, reflect the elements of nautical culture, and carry forward the spirit of navigation in the new era. We must strengthen the news propaganda and atmosphere creation, as well as the preparation of emergency planning and adequate support. Through the platform of China Maritime Day activities, it will strengthen international and domestic exchanges and cooperation in the field of navigation, inherit maritime culture, carry forward the spirit of navigation in the new era, and make a new contribution to the advancement of China as a leading country in transportation, ocean affairs, and shipping.
