The inaugural conference of the Ship Lift Technology Professional Committee of the China Institute of Navigation (CIN), as well as the first plenary meeting, was held in Guiyang on the morning of November 8th. Over 100 representatives including He Jianzhong, Chairman of CIN, Xu Guang, Former Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Transport, Academician Niu Xinqiang, Chief Scientist of Changjiang Design Institute, Academician Hu Yauan, Chief Engineer of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute, Han Jianbo, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Provincial Transport Bureau, Chen Youhua, Deputy General Manager of Changjiang Design Institute, Peng Peng, Vice General Manager of Guizhou Wujang Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., and leaders, experts, and representatives from relevant units in the industry attended the meeting.
Chairman He Jianzhong extended his congratulations on the establishment of the Ship Lift Technology Professional Committee and highlighted that it is a multi-disciplinary, cross-border platform that brings together academicians, masters, and many experts and scholars in the industry. In the future, the committee will aim to target cutting-edge technologies in the field with a more open and international perspective, and further enhance China's ship lift construction level. He also emphasized that as a bridge and link connecting scientific and technological workers, the Committee should fulfill its responsibilities, strengthen organizational cohesion, academic leadership, national strategic support, international influence, and social credibility. Furthermore, efforts should be made to enhance the self-construction of the committee. The committee should continue to promote scientific and technological innovation, achievement transfer rate, talent cultivation, and maritime popularization. It aims to become a warm and trustworthy home for maritime scientific and technological workers, playing an active role in striving for the China Institute of Navigation to become a first-class institute with Chinese characteristics.
The conference listened to and deliberated on the report regarding the establishment of the Ship Lift Technology Professional Committee. It also reviewed and voted on the "Working Regulations (Draft) of the Ship Lift Technology Professional Committee of the China Institute of Navigation”. Furthermore, elections were held to appoint the Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Secretary-General, and other positions. Academician Niu Xinqiang was elected as the first Chairman, while 9 individuals, including Academician Hu Yauan, were appointed as Vice Chairmen. Wu Jundong, Deputy Chief Engineer of Changjiang Design Group, was appointed as the Secretary-General. Changjiang Design Group serves as the sponsoring unit for the Ship Lift Technology Professional Committee.
