The International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN) Technical Seminar 2023 was Held in Qingdao

The International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN) Technical Seminar 2023 was held in Jimo, Qingdao, On October 17, 2023. The seminar was hosted by the International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN), co-hosted by the China Institute of Navigation, and supported by the GNSS and LBS Association of China and the China Highway and Transportation Society. Themed "Navigation Technology and Multi-field Applications", the seminar was attended by representatives including members of the Executive Committee of the IAIN, experts and scholars from organizations of satellite navigation management, research and application at home and abroad.

This seminar was chaired by Hesham Helal, secretary-general of the IAIN. Krzysztof Czaplewski, president of the IAIN and Zhang Baochen, senior vice-chairman of the IAIN and executive vice president of the China Institute of Navigation, delivered speeches separately. President Krzysztof Czaplewski introduced the purpose, mission, as well as the main members of IAIN, and appreciated the contribution that the China Institute of Navigation has made to the IAIN in recent years. This technical seminar provided a platform for exchange and sharing to jointly explore the possibility of the multi-field application of the navigation technology. Senior vice president Zhang Baochen said that this technical seminar provides an opportunity for scholars from various countries to exchange ideas and technologies, share experience, and promote the high-quality sustainable development of navigation technology on a global scale. This seminar also heralds the upcoming 2024 IAIN World Congress in Beijing.

The conference invited six experts and scholars to give keynote speeches. They are Wu Haitao, Vice President of Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Salvatore Gaglione, Vice President of the International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN) , Saleh Mesbah, Honorary Associate Professor of the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Mario Caporale, Vice President of the Italian Institute of Navigation (IIN), Zhang Jiantong, China Transport Telecommunications&Information Center (CTTIC), and Hu Qing, Professor of the Dalian Maritime University. They respectively made keynote speeches about the new progress of the application of Beidou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), the integrity monitoring of satellite positioning, the advantages and applications of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) in the Arab region, an introduction to cognitive navigation, the application of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System in the field of transportation, and key technologies and applications of the VDES R-mode.

The International Association of Institutes of Navigation (IAIN) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) uniting national and multinational institutes and organizations aiming to foster human activities on land, at sea, in the air and in space by developing and disseminating the science and practice of navigation and related information techniques. On behalf of China, CIN joined the organization in 1988 as an official member to participate in its activities and monitor its developments.
