The International Port and Shipping Science and Technology Cooperation Roundtable was Held in Qingdao

On October 17, during the World Conference on Maritime Science and Technology 2023, the China Institute of Navigation hosted the International Port and Shipping Science and Technology Cooperation Roundtable. The conference was chaired and summarized by Fei Weijun, the convener of the Roundtable and the former dean of the China Waterborne Transport Research Institute. Yan Xiaobo, secretary-general of the China Institute of Navigation, introduced the follow-up work arrangement of the International Technology Alliance for Port & Shipping and the Proposal on Jointly Promoting the Belt and Road International Port and Shipping Sc-Tech Cooperation. 18 representatives of relevant domestic and foreign organizations in the field of port and shipping attended the meeting.

The participants jointly studied and discussed the environment and challenges faced by the scientific and technological cooperation of port and shipping, and put forward suggestions around the content of the initiative and the actual needs of the organization. The conference reached the following consensus: 1. Take the opportunity of the World Conference on Maritime Science and Technology to hold an International Port and Shipping Science and Technology Cooperation Roundtable every two years as a platform for scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation among all organizations. 2. Adopt the Proposal on Jointly Promoting the Belt and Road International Port and Shipping Sc-Tech Cooperation, jointly promote scientific and technological innovation from individual exploration to common development, build a new ecology of innovation cooperation, and promote the sustainable development of green, low-carbon, and intelligent technologies. 3. The port and shipping industry has entered an era of green and low-carbon, an era of digital intelligence, and an era of innovation cooperation. We are willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, give full play to our respective advantages, jointly create a new ecology for port and shipping science and technology cooperation, strive to enhance the connectivity and resilience of the supply chain, and jointly promote the development of the port and shipping industry.
