On the afternoon of May 25th, a symposium on work exchange and the construction of a first-class institute with Chinese characteristics was held in Wu Han between China institute of Navigation(CIN) and Yangtze River Navigation Administration (referred to as the Yangtze Administration ).
Zhang Baochen, Executive Vice President of CIN, presided over the meeting. Xu Zuyuan, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport, and Tang Guanjun, former Director of Yangtze River Navigation Administration attended the meeting. Representatives of Yangtze Administration, Wuhan University of Technology, the Committee for Inland River Maritime Affairs, the Inland Navigation High Quality Development Committee, the Lock Committee, the Inland River Ship Driving Committee, and the Water Transport Safety Engineering Technical Committee attended the meeting as well.
In his speech, Liu Liang, Director of the Yangtze Administration, pointed out that the Administration will deeply cultivate the concept of joint consultation, construction, and sharing, gather industry development efforts, continuously deepen the exchanges and strengthen the cooperation with CIN and various branches, and work together to promote the high-quality development of Yangtze River shipping, contributing wisdom and strength to the development of China’s shipping industry. He also said that in the next stage, the Administration will adhere to promoting the modernization of the Yangtze River shipping and strongly support the implementation of major national strategies; Adhere to building the golden waterway of the whole basin, and serve to build a dual circulation; Adhere to promoting the high-quality development of Yangtze River shipping and accelerate the construction of the smart Yangtze River; Adhere to the joint construction, governance, and sharing, and strive to create a new situation in the Yangtze River shipping cooperation.
Xu Zuyuan, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport, delivered a concluding speech. He pointed out that the construction of CIN is of great significance and is the trend of national and industrial development. We are supposed to work hard on the academic research, actively build a communication platform, connect with the government departments, and show our own characteristics. He hoped that all professional committees would promote their abilities to build a new development paradigm of CIN.
At the meeting, the leaders attending the meeting respectively awarded the plaque of “Home for maritime science and technology workers ” to the three supporting units of Committee for Inland River Maritime Affair, high-quality development of the Inland navigation, the lock Committee and Wuhan University of Technology. The attending representatives exchanged and shared the experiences on how to create the first-class institute with Chinese characteristics and strengthen the construction of specialized committees.
