Recently, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) announced the list of National Excellent Science Popularizing Units in 2022. 81 national societies including the CIN were named "outstanding units of science popularization work of national societies in 2022". This is the ninth consecutive year that the CIN has been awarded this honor.
At the same time, the CIN was also awarded as the "Excellent Organization of National Science Popularization Day" by the Chinese Association of Science and Technology (CAST), with the Aids to Navigation Committee of CIN included. Four activities including "Marine Science and Technology Research - Science Popularizing DIY", "the Third Beijing International Sailing Regatta and Beijing Open Sailing Tournament in 2022 ", "Promoting Marine Culture and Building Marine Power - Marine Science Popularizing Series in Jiangsu Province " and "New Experience of Marine Science Popularization" were awarded as " Excellent Organization of National Science Popularization Day in 2022", recommended by the Society. This is the sixth year in a row that the CIN has won the title of excellent organizer of the National Science Popularization Day and the recognition of excellent activities.
In 2022, under the guidance of the key points of the annual science popularization work of the CAST, and under the overall planning and guidance of the Navigation Science Popularization Working Committee, the CIN organized member units, science popularization education bases and branches to carry out dozens of maritime-featured science popularization activities, with an annual offline science popularization audience of more than 3,000 people and an online audience of millions of people, with outstanding results in science popularization activities.
In 2022, the CIN organized the "National Maritime Science Popularization Week" for the first time during the Maritime Day of China, which created a strong atmosphere of "knowing navigation, loving navigation, learning navigation, and using navigation" in the whole society, , which has strongly promoted the national awareness of navigation and it was selected into the "Science Popularization Ability Improvement" project of the CAST.
In 2022, the construction of the National Maritime Science Popularization Education Base has been strengthened and the number reached 47, including the "M/V YU KUN " of Dalian Maritime University, the China Maritime Museum, the Traffic Management Center of Tianjin Maritime Administration and the Fujian Quanzhou Overseas Traffic History Museum, which were awarded the first batch of "National Science Popularization Education Base" by the CAST. The representative of maritime science popularization, Captain Bai Xiangen was nominated for the grassroots and social science popularization candidates, and the "A Blue Legendary: Serial Exhibition of China’s Contemporary Maritime Equipment (1)" of the China Maritime Museum was nominated the science popularization exhibition candidates of "Dianzan • 2022 China Science Communication" respectively.
In 2022, the CIN published more than 1200 popular science essays and 68 short science popularization videos on the client of China Science Communication and the official account of maritime science popularization, and made it to the the "Science Communication List" by CAST for three times.
