On September 8, 2022, the awarding ceremony of the China Institute of Navigation (CIN)-ZHANG Rongfa Foundation Bursary for the academic year 2020-2021 was held at Jimei University. HE Jiangzhong, President of CIN, HONG Wenjian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jimei University, YU Hongliang, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jimei University, QIU Guocheng, representative of ZHANG Rongfa Foundation, and ZHANG Jinxing, representative of Evergreen Marine Corp. attended the ceremony. ZHANG Ping, Deputy Secretary General of CIN, read out the list of sponsored students for the 2020-2021 academic. The ceremony was hosted by ZHANG Ting, Director of Student Work Department of Jimei University.
HE Jianzhong encouraged the students to inherit and carry forward the nautical spirit of the new era, cultivate and establish the mission of loving the motherland, hard work and entrepreneurship, and develop the spirit of pioneering and innovation, truthfulness and pragmatism, the professional character of courage and cooperation, the firm will of endeavour and excellence, and the idea of openness and tolerance, peace and cooperation in order to be the practitioners, inheritors and innovators in the new era. He also thought that students should accurately grasp the new trend of the development of shipping industry, study and understand strategies’ mission and connotation of building the ocean, transportation and shipping power, know and care about the ocean, and strive for the goal of green, low-carbon and intelligent shipping. Finally, he hoped that young students should always bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping’s earnest teaching that “a strong economic country is definitely a strong maritime and shipping country” and that “our young generation will be promising”, bravely shoulder the heavy responsibility given by the times, learn the skills and take solid steps to be a prominent youth with brilliant wisdom, good virtue, and sincere action. Let’s welcome the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with more excellent achievements.
HONG Wenjian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jimei University, said that the construction and development of the university had received the support from the Party committees, governments, departments and all walks of life, and that CIN and ZHANG Rongfa’s Foundation had taken practical action to support the cultivation of maritime talents in university, which promoted the development of the first-class university with more distinctive characteristics of “researching sea”. He encouraged the students to firmly believe in maritime career, integrate their own dreams into the dream of building an ocean power, learn well and grow up, take up the historical responsibility and youthful mission given by the times, and make due contribution to building a strong ocean country.
QIU Guocheng, representative of Zhang Rongfa’s Foundation, expressed his gratitude to CIN and Jimei University for the elaborate preparation for the ceremony, and congratulated and expressed his earnest hope to students who won the grants.
During the ceremony, the guests and students interacted with each other. HE Jianzhong encouraged students to study hard and work hard, so that they can grow up to be the leaders of the industry as soon as possible, making their efforts to build a strong country in transportation, ocean and shipping.
The management committee of CIN-ZHANG Rongfa Foundation has audited and approved a total of 275 outstanding students for the academic year of 2020-2021, of which 20 students from Jimei University were the representatives of the ceremony. SHAO Ziyang, one of the students representatives, expressed his gratitude and promised that he would continue to uphold the spirit of Jia Geng and the school motto of honest and persistence, and in the future, he would make contributions to the development of China’s shipping industry and try his best to realize his own greater value through serving country and society.
ZHANG Jinxing, Deputy Associate of Shipping Department of Evergreen International Shipping (Shenzhen) Company Shanghai Branch, gave a special lecture for the participating students and had an interactive exchange with them.
