On January 27, China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) released the Notice on the Selection of Outstanding Units for the Publication of National Society Journals in 2021, in which 30 units, including Chinese Medical Association, were rated as "Outstanding Units for the Journal Publication " and 30 units, including China Institute of Navigation (CIN), were appraised as "Standard Units for Publication Management". This selection is organized by the CAST to recognize journal publication units with outstanding achievements and to study the key direction of journal construction in 2022.
CIN organizes the scientific and technological periodicals Navigation of China and Marine Technology. The purpose of Navigation of China (a Chinese core journal) is to promote the development of China's navigational technology and to facilitate academic exchanges at home and abroad. It mainly publishes the research results of national key projects, academic papers and society news in the maritime science and technology. It is a high-end platform for top academic exchanges, cutting-edge scientific research, advanced technological innovation and the cutting-edge information dissemination for CIN. Marine Technology has been well received by readers in the shipping industry, and its purpose is to disseminate advanced maritime application technologies, improve the professional quality of personnel, guarantee the safety of ships, protect the marine environment and promote the management efficiency of shipping enterprises. The CAST proposed that the selected units should make greater efforts, further play a demonstration and leading role, integrate the Institute construction and the periodical development, give full play to the advantages of academic resources and organizational network, and take effective measures to promote the sustainable and high-quality development of the host periodicals. It is hoped that the national institutes will follow the selected units, strengthen the overall planning and deployment of journal publication, improve the management mechanism of journal publication, increase the investment of human, financial and material resources for host journals, and continuously improve the academic quality and influence of the journals.
