Since 2018, CAST has organized the work on collection of major scientific and engineering problems every year, and it added the collection of major industrial technology problems in the worklist this year.
On July 28, at the closing ceremony of the 23rd CAST annual conference, CAST released 10 cutting-edge scientific problems which played leading roles in scientific development, 10 engineering technology problems which held the key to engineering technology innovation, and first released 10 industrial technology problems which led industrial development. Among these cited problems, “how to overcome technical problems on manufacturing and security engineering of deep-sea navigation equipment” recommended by our institute was chosen to be the top 10 major engineering technical problems in 2021. In the process of selection from among 30 recommendations, CAST organized several rounds of expert selection, with hundreds of academicians participating in the evaluation.
After the publishing ceremony, CAST awarded outstanding unites in this work. And CIN won the medals of “2021 Outstanding Recommendation Unit” and “Outstanding Organizer from 2018 to 2021”. Zhang Baochen Executive vice president of CIN, received the award on behalf of the institute on the stage.
This year, on the basis of recommendation of units concerned and scientific researchers in marine field, CIN organized experts to sort out and evaluate the four major engineering and technical problems in the maritime field in the form of the Symposium of China Navigation Think tank, and recommended four major engineering and technical problems in the navigation field to CAST and instructed CCS, WTI, Changjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design and Research (CISPDR) to organize professional personnel to improve the description of the four engineering technical problems respectively. CCS and Polar Navigation and Equipment Committee of CIN and Inland Ship Navigation Committee of CIN played important roles in sorting out and describing “ how to overcome technical problems on manufacturing and security engineering of deep-sea navigation equipment”.
