On September 19, the first Youth Nautical Education Forum was held in Rizhao city, Shandong province. Nearly 150 guests from the shipping and education circles, as well as the relevant industry associations, enterprises, institutions and relevant colleges and universities, who are concerned about and support the youth nautical education and are committed to the spread of nautical culture, gathered together to have an indepth exchange and discussion on how to strengthen the youth nautical education and reserve future talents with strong maritime awareness and maritime spirit and culture for the construction of a marine power.
The forum is jointly sponsored by CIN, China Shipowners’ Association(CSA), Chinese Seamen &Construction Workers’s Union and Tao Xingzhi Education Foundation. With the theme of “strengthen youth nautical education and build a dream of a marine power”, the forum is committed to guiding more young people to love the ocean and shipping, and actively promoting nautical cultural knowledge into textbooks and classes.
He Jianzhong, president of CIN and former vice minister of the Ministry of Transport, made the opening speech and pointed out that shipping plays a very important role in the development of national economy of all countries, and we have the responsibility and obligation to guide more young people to love the ocean and shipping. At present, China's youth nautical education has made positive progress, but on the whole, it is still in the state of late start, incomprehensive range and inadequate depth. . It is necessary to actively promote the integration of youth nautical science popularization education into primary and secondary school textbooks. In the future, with the great progress of navigation technology, being a seafarer is no longer a risk-taking job, it is a decent and interesting job. In the future, navigation will become intelligent supported by technology and art, which will attract more young people to join in.

At the end of the forum, the "Unveiling Ceremony of Building a Comprehensive Practice Demonstration Base for Youth Nautical Education” and the signing ceremony of Youth Nautical Education project leader and the project experimental school (base) were held.
During the one-day forum, the guests and representatives freely expressed their opinions and suggestions on how to strengthen China's Youth Nautical Education, which achieved good results and helped promote the talent cultivation and sustainable development of China's marine power and shipping power construction.
